I hooked up with a new guy. Seems he is contracted to clear some timber for a new housing development. The developer was smart and hired an arborist to remove just some of the trees in an attractive/selective way instead the usual bulldose and pile.Last week he dumped 1000 bft of oak (mostly white) in the yard. Nice size for sawing, average 24”. I milled some of the red oak and it was beautiful. No pictures, you’ll just have to trust me ;)
So this week (today) he shows up with...

A Northern Version of YardWork
And so up here in the land of snow, I was in need of doing some yardwork here recently and then more of….sometimes daily. So I thought I would post my version, of what that means for one such as I, who live’s in the north country come winter. So if you have your boots on and if you will please grab a shovel, then let us proceed for this mornings clean-up….
....digging out my path to the shop has become a daily thing for me as I shovel...

“The inner compasses of the mind must encircle the whole quantity of material beforehand” – medieval poet Geoffrey de Vinsauf.
Here’s a few before shots, as in before I know what I want to make with them….

• In the forefront are two old pieces of wood that I found next to a creek, they may be old bridge boards as they had several 20 penny nails in them, are almost 3 inches thick, almost 12 inches wide and...

In December we started breaking records for snowfall and the first to fall was a long standing reco...

If you are just surfing through the internet about Walking Canes and found this posting, and you want to see some actual canes I’ve carved, click on the Widget Picture of the cane here. That project has more than 40 other links to other unique carved walking canes I’ve built.
This blog entry is for showing a new concept sketch of a carved walking cane design that I am working on so that the prospective customer can view the concept drawings and provide his input, or approval.

Beholder of Art
....art-full to be-hold, i gather what surrounds me, adroit nature i am….—by flp
And so I was sitting this morning looking over some photos I had taken recently outside and out of my landscape of framework, came these pictures speaking to me. Imagination is a wonder-full gift, and when coupled with writing, the words of the soul can be heard, which has caused me to spend a rich time here at my desk with pencil and paper, writing out note-full stories for futu...
