We’re finishing few days full of little upgrades and new features with something very valuable – new print styles. If you tried to print any of the LJ pages in the past you sure noticed that it was a complete mess. I’ve finally found some time this weekend to work on the printer-friendly version.
Header, footer, menus, banners and other parts that are not useful in the print version are now hidden when you hit Print button in your browser. The remaining content is slightl...

As Bill noticed I have upgraded our picture viewer. Problem with the prev and next buttons was that they were not always on the same place and you had to hover the image to see them. To enhance the usability I’ve moved these two buttons together with the close button to the new separate toolbar at the top of the page.
Enjoy!

As you may noticed we have new button on our colorful header’s toolbar. It’s name is STICKIES and it has stolen the SEARCH’s button brown color. Once you click on the STICKIES button it will reveal the list of handpicked sticky pages/posts on the site. Many of the important and essential posts got lost because the amount of fresh new content is growing each day – now we have a way to give them attention they deserve.
Here is the screenshot:
Enjoy!

As many of you noticed, our search results were becoming cluttered by the Store pages. After some research I found that it’s possible to use search refinements in the custom search tool provided by Google. Why stop with the research… I upgraded the search on our site and included following refinements:
Forums
Projects
Blog entries
Store
All except store
By default, search runs across all of the sections and pages. If you want more specific results just click on t...

It happened multiple times in past… and probably to you as well, at least once. You spent 15 minutes typing long and meaningful blog entry only to lose it. Right before hitting Submit button your browser crashed or you lost internet connection or something else happened. I’m sure you didn’t want to type it again. It’s frustrating and demotivating.
No need to be nervous anymore.
I’ve integrated autosave feature into the most important forms on the site ̵...

You can finally enjoy the result of my latest work. We got MUCH IMPROVED personal home pages here on the LumberJocks as well as better organization of the profile and account editing.
The former personal homes were not visually appealing and displayed only minimal amount of content. On the other hand, new ones have rich 3-column layout with lots of info about you and your activity on LumberJocks. I believe they represent something you can be proud of and are worth sharing with your friends...

I know we all love fancy time-savers.. don’t we? How would you love accessing your pictures or videos (maintained on the third party dedicated sites) directly below the text area when writing your loooong blog entry, project story or even new comment.
Well, now this is possible here on the LumberJocks through our embedded mini-browser. You don’t need to open new window to paste in that picture anymore – do it 5 times per post and you’ll see how tedious this can be ;...

I’ve managed to finish some important upgrades today. Here they are in a list:
wider pages – majority of the site visitors are already using 1024×768 or higher resolution so it is a good time to introduce wider pages. Content area now supports embedded images up to 640px wide – that’s the exact same width that photo sharing sites like Photobucket are recommending for the web use in their resizing options. As a result 640px wide pictures hosted on these sites ...
