Well I got a little more accomplished.
I did a little design change today, I removed what I called the chin at the bottom side of the heart.
I held a piece of stiff sand paper, & drew a cutting line, then proceeded cut off the chins.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Note; the cut off line.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A big improvement with no chins. I call this “Wooden surgery.”
I said I wasn’t going to enter, but I opened up the latest issue of “Woodworkers Journal,”
They had a centerfold of how to make a bandsawn box. I read it over, & right away I thought, there’s something
I can try, & make one for the L J’s contest.
I’ve never tried making a bandsawn box before, & besides that, it would be a good test for my new Rikon.
I’ve had these nice blocks of burly maple that I picked up at our local city pa...
I have been struggling with the final arm rest/leg design of a redwood patio chair, so I thought I would document the process and the progress thus far and as it moves forward (at a snails pace).
First off, when I originally sketched this chair I fell in love. I couldn’t wait to get into the shop and get started. The need was for a set of deck chairs but i really wanted to avoid a straight Adirondack design. I was trying to get a comfortable contemporary look with both a minimal ...
I wasn’t planning on entering, but yesterday the bug bit me.
I usually like to use the material I have on hand, & I couldn’t find a 2×4, so I decided to make a box.
I drew up a pattern of what I wanted to make, & proceeded on my adventure.
That’s all I’m going to show you today is a picture of the piece of wood I’m using.
After all, this is top secret!
One of the first things I did here after finding this site was to post a project I had designed in Sketchup for a new TV stand to match my entertainment center. You can find the original forum post here:
http://lumberjocks.com/topics/1522
I thought it might be interesting if I detailed the evolution of this project to show how listening to good advice can drastically change the way you have something originally designed. We had a large 65” TV we were going to replace with a newe...
I have to say setting up a wood shop is just as much work and cash, if not more, then setting up a steel shop. Luckily a few of the steel tools are useful and will come in handy to the wood shop. I have also a few tools from a set of cedar drafting drawers I built oh, 5 years back. It was a one time thing and at the time living in an apartment, dust was every where. All I really had was a Dewalt biscuit joiner and a random orbital sander, that was it.
A pic of the cedar drawers, mmmm they ...
Winter is here, which means the motorbikes have been winterized and garaged, and there is once again time for some woodworking. However, in order to do that, I have to move the motorbikes out of the garage every time I go to work. Small price to pay for having all the toys, though.
A few months back, my friend Jared picked up a LOT of rough sawn 4/4 walnut for $1.50 / bf. I love walnut. I purchased a small amount from him, as I didn’t know what I was going to use it for; how much I w...
Hi All,
I posted some details and pics of my workshop today as well as some projects.
I completed my first project recently – a headbaord for our guest bedroom. I’ve made some picture frames and working on a more ‘deluxe’ picture frame now.
I’m going to need to jump in and look for some answers soon, the questions are starting to pile up!.
