Just a quick update on the Christmas Box Build Off contest from A Simple Design of Ocala. In this video I talk about the prizes and categories.
It has been a bit of a bother to find time for woodworking. I found some today and managed to put in a few hours. Today was about fitting the sides of the lamps to the side edges. Although I got all the I made progress on both lamps but I only got one assembled up to this point. I am going very slow on this so I can enjoy what I’m making. For starters, I added one coat of tung oil before starting the glue up. The glue joints don’t have any tung oil on them so thery are good...

I recently finished building a federal style card table loosely patterned after the plan in FWW issue #59, “Federal Card Table” by Michael Dunbar. That table in turn is based on a piece from the period, thought to be from Baltimore. I still consider myself a newbie, and was shocked at how well the finished table came out! Now I’m going to make a second table with a few improvements. If you’d like to follow along I can promise you that we will take an interesting and unconve...
On the following day after the glue has set, the band clamps are removed. It is time to begin truing up the ring of segments. In order to attain flatness on one of the ring’s edge I’ll lay a segment flat on the bed of the disc sander. It’s important to maintain a 90 degree angle during this operation. Take your time and make sure of accuracy. When the edge is truly flat we can then proceed to the lathe. Now the ring is mounted on the lathe and the opposite edge...

This is my second project progress blog. I am a hobbyist who likes to try to build things beyond my skill set. I started this desk in the spring, then got waylaid by the live edge table I needed to finish. Today I started again. I am making a Curved-Front Desk from the Fine Woodworking plan. The first step is to do the legs. I got ahead of myself in the spring and did the shaping of the legs before I did the mortises. By the end of the week, I will have 8-10 double-curved cherry leg...
Hello all. I am in need. A need to fill the void. The void is an empty spot. The empty spot in an area of the shop I haven’t seen in years. There actually is a floor under all that “junk” as the bride would say. (I say golden treasures.) But, what I need now is spiritual help and a set of free plans for a drift boat or dory. I know I can build one, just need the plans. Have looked and downloaded several but cant find ones concerning a Montana style. Those guys craft some s...
I’m back with an all new project video. I hope you check it out. http://youtu.be/OGGLeztLAssHow do I post the video onto the page here?
I have been full of good intentions, but something always seems to crop up to stop the bigger projects getting under way, however I think I am clear to get started on rebuilding the kiosko / gazebo. It was my intention to get under way last week, but we had to have a couple of Mango trees removed, one at the front and another at the back of the house, for fruit trees they were big, taller than the house, and that was a worry, because I didn’t want any damage done to the house whilst fel...
