Hey Guys & Gals! A quick video showing building a picture frame for mothers day. Really just an excuse to get out into the workshop. Sorry if you have alrady seen this ( I have already posted this as a project when I decided I wanted to blog this) ENJOY!
Because my workshop is in my garage and space is at a premium, I have had to make use of available space for storing some of my power tools. In this photo, You can see my compound mitre saw sitting high on a shelf near the ceiling, and my router table hangs from that shelf by two sturdy chains. It is out of the way, giving me as much floor space as possible in my confined workshop.
Hello Fellow Shop Geeks! I cant actually believe I have only now just run across this forum/website. What a great find. I have a feeling alot of shop time will be lost here… This is my very first blog entry so I’ll just post a little background and current whats up. Background. Been woodworking forever, more building in the last decade but I always had a knack for wood and composites. Perhaps thats due to my upbringing, I was literally raised in a lumberyard as lumber i...
So i finally got some work done today on my box. first i started by making the bottom. because i am using thick material for the sides i wanted to add some rigidness to the box so it is a 1/2” thick poplar bottom and i did the bevel with a hand plane. rather than set up machinery or anything. then it was time to focus on the dividers. these are hard because they are very thin stock and to get them good they have to fit right. so what i did was cut them and did almost what resembl...
I have sleep apnea and currently just use a simple stand for my CPAP machine. I thought is would be wise to build a nightstand to put it in to help reduce the noise of the pump hum to help give my wife a good nights sleep as well so I designed a nightstand to contain my CPAP machine in a felt lined area to make it virtually sound proof as well as a drawer to contain all the spares and bits and bobs. Have a look.
I decided that it was time to make something for me, and what better than a new Workbench, I have been making do, with the bench I made when living in an apartment, and had a micro workshop in a spare bedroom, now it was time for a man size bench. The pile of mahogany to the left of the saw horse leg is my bench (that on the right is still the Kiosko / Gazebo roof!) this arrived on the 19th. I then sorted the timber and cut the parts The planks on the left are the top at 2.5...
