shop progress #3: rude and crude router table

749 days ago by James Alberding | 2 comments »

I finally have an upside down router! I tested it out and it works perfectly, for what I need anyway. I built the table frame to fit the piece of laminated 1 1/4” material that I grabbed from a pile of scrap wood by my work. Along with the rest of the wood I used for this. So its not pretty by any stretch. it took some creativity to get the router mounted under the table. I used a scrap price of 1/2” plexi glass I scored from work to mount the router base to. so I cut a ho...

1904 days ago by Jack Barnhill | 10 comments »

I have a small shop, about 200SF. It’s not as small as it once was, about 90SF, and it’s not as big as what I hope to have some day, about 600SF. To keep from climbing over things and make it easier to move things around to accomdate the operation of the moment, I thought I would adopt the “everything on wheels” strategy and double up what tools I could in single cabinets. So, to make sure that I had the right designs and that everything would fit in the shop and ...

Garage Overhead Cabinets #2: What to use?

1971 days ago by MyOldGarage | 5 comments »

Well, the weather forecast here is calling for snow this weekend. I’m anxious to have the garbage can holder done, but I want to keep right on going with projects. I’m contemplating loading up the truck tonight with some materials for the overhead cabinets—but I’m kind of wondering what I should build them out of. I’m leaning towards cheap and paintable—and light? I’m looking for some suggestions now so I can call around and get pricing informati...
