Restoring a "Zenith" by Marshall Wells Hardware transitional plane.

This plane was purchased at auction recently: I do my usual triage, assign it a number for my spreadsheet, from whence it gets put away for my after-retirement hobby. But I found this one intriguing enough to tackle right away. First, the tote. The shark-fin was snapped off, and so I pieced in some replacement stock, and faired it in to the original contours. Guitar Cabinets #1: Redwood 2x15 Guitar Cabinet

This cabinet is is made of knotty Redwood. Most people use clear pine, but I feel that Redwood is more beautiful and has similar tonal qualities. Both Pine and Redwood are evergreen coniferous species. Redwood grows way faster than pine, so it is a readily available and guilt-free wood. Its softness helps it resonate better.
