I had $30 Amazon rewards, so I ordered these: My woodworking budget is nil, so I was looking for something cheap and decent that I could learn with and I decided on these after reading reviews on several different brands. The reviews on amazon.com are pretty good, but not so good in other places. I also read somewhere else that these were decent starter chisels after they’ve been sharpened. I think I caught the hand plane bug somewhere, maybe during the last LJ get together. It probably just festered under the surface and waited until my mind was weak enough before it bit. At any rate, after my experiences with tuning and working with my block planes, I felt the draw to pick up a smoothing plane. First Shop #5: Bench, Chisels and First Project

Last time I laid out my equipment purchase plans. No progress on purchases though I have decided on the Ridgid TS3650 contractor saw. I see the Woodworking show is coming to Milwaukee in February and that is only 5 hours south for me, so I may see what kind of deal I can snag there on a table saw. I’ve spent the last few evenings working on my core skills. Marking out, cutting, fitting and basically getting used to how certain things behave. This includes trying out my new Bosch CS20...
