Hey guys – I was a guest on a couple of podcasts last week (I am way behind on timely blog entries.) First, I joined LJ member Marc Spagnuolo at the WoodWhisperer Guild. You need to be a member to access this podcast where we talk about doing built-ins. We cover several of the techniques, strategies and things to look for as you design and install a built-in project. If you are on the fence about if you should join the Guild or not, I will say that as a person that makes my living...
There have been quite a few times that the long list of Wood Working Celebrities have commented on what it takes to become a good wood worker. The one common quote usually goes a little something like this. Stop (watching / reading, ) my (show / blog), getup and get into your shop and get woodworking This type of quote has been issued time and time again, and I realized that I have been sitting in my living room and watching these shows and reading these blogs more than I had gotten i...
Exciting News! The latest issue of America’s Best Workshops 2013 hits the shelf on March 26, and the American Craftsman Workshop has been included! Rather than being one of the featured shops, I actually have 4 pages of tips that other woodworkers might find helpful. The article is titled “Pro Ideas for Your Shop.” All images used with permission of WOOD Magazine & America’s Best Home Workshops 2013 4 Gold Nuggets From The ACW In the article I shar...

When you send the money in, $1 is donated to WoodWorkers Fighting Cancer. I’m sure i’m past the deadline for the Charity but I wanted to ...
View on YouTube One of the absolute high points of my 2016 winter road trip was meeting Marc Spagnuolo, aka The Wood Whisperer at his shop outside Phoenix, AZ. One of the cool things about this interview is that he gave some real insights into the Business Side of Woodworking and Woodworking on the Internet. I posted on Facebook when I was in Arizona that I would like to interview another woodworker while I was there. I had heard that Marc lived in the Phoenix area, but I never expec...
Behind the scenes of my shop and YouTube channel #6: THE WOOD WHISPERER, Chad Shimmel, Ty Moser, and Sun City West
After my wonderful stay in Los Angeles I drove to Phoenix. It took 5 hours just to get out of LA but that was not enough to tarnish the memory. I REALLY liked Phoenix! Actually, I stayed with friends in Sun City West and I had a great time. It was in the 80’s the whole time I was there and I even got to play a round of golf. The folks at Sun City have a fabulous wood shop, unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of it. :( Anyway, I DID get to meet The Wood Whisperer! We ...
