David (FaTToaD) and Meredith went back east for the holidays and came home loaded down with goodies. We had a good visit (for my part anyway, I couldn’t shut up long enough for him to say much) lol and it was a pleasure meeting Meredith. Note to David; She’s a keeper. When he left, he gave me some Tupelo gum boards to see what I thought of them. When I figure out what I want to ...

Wow, it has been a couple of weeks since the Lumberjocks Picnic at my place on 8-10-2007. I wanted to share some of the photos that I have, and talk some about next year’s event. Cleaning and Hardwork: Our place has never looked better (everything is relative), as Shelli and I rushed around for three full days cleaning up, mowing, weed-eating, and hauling off trash. This old farm we live on was a real junky place when we bought it 6 summers ago, and so we continue to clean it up, res...
I’m so excited, Karson is on the way to see me on Friday. He left Delware Tuesday, and is in Kansas City now. He called today to work out the logistics. We had hoped that Joshua Stewart could come along for the trip, but his wife is due to have a baby today, so I think he is out, although I don’t understand his priorities ( just kidding Joshua). Kev is planning to drive up from Wichita. So, with “wife” here, me, Karson, and Kev, there will be at least 4 lumberjock...

After reading Martin’s blog yesterday about all of us having some lumberjock club meetings, I did one of those head slap moments and thought out loud, “Why didn’t I think of that?” What a great idea, a nice way to tie us altogether….actual face, to face club meetings. I was first visited by Joel Tille from Iowa. Then, it was Kevin Larcom from Wichita. Now, Karson tells me that he will honor me by a visit late this summer while he is in Kansas seeing famil...
Well we have lumberjock 1000 . Congratulations Martin. Now on to 2000.
Yesterday, I enjoyed an afternoon of getting to know a fellow lumberjock, “Kev”, otherwise known as Kevin Larcom from Wichita. He has a design for a Thorsen Table Challenge project, but didn’t have any wood. So, I set him up with some walnut and maple. I’m anxious to see how it comes together by the end of the Month. I loaned him my Sam Maloof, George Nakashima, Mira Nakashima, and Krenov books, so look out world, he can’t help but motivated to make dust no...
