I was back over at the house tonight to pick up a couple of things. I took some pictures of the shelves. They still have dust on them (I did not bother with cleaning them since the hardwood floors have not been sanded yet. These are not the final pictures. I will go take some more once the floors are done and shelves are cleaned off. Those I will put in here as a project. Enjoy these.

Hey everyone nice to get back into some cabinet work and leave the spoons and hatchet on the ole choppin’ stump this time! Between the hurricane hitting…then the snow storm post sandy, my bench and pine planks got a bit ignored. This project is more based around something fun and really useful as well as getting more exercise with hand chisels in regarding chamfering edges. After This I get to work out a chair design that is nic...

Homework #1: Hitting the books

03-25-2009 06:09 AM by JimmyNate | 2 comments »

I stopped by the library this week and picked up a few books on tools. The goal is to educate myself sufficiently that I know what I’ll want to be doing with the tools. This week the selections are: Jim Tolpin’s Table Saw MagicGreat for my intended purpose. The first 45 pages are nothing but the basics: types of saws, setup, tune-up, upkeep. The rest of the book (the bulk of it) is devoted to the myriad uses of a table saw and while details are occasionally thin, there ar...
