Refers to project posted here.
I used the Kreg screw system for most of the joinery on this project. This is my second major project (first one here) using this system and I have found them to be very strong. It’s also very quick to join pieces with this system which helped me do this project in only 4 days exclusive of some of the finishing. This was also my first time using the Kreg plugs which I’ve started a forum topic on here.
I always get to the end of the build an...

but I do believe my daughter will love it when she sees it for the first time tomorrow morning.
I have been spending a lot of time recently in our basement recently. My wife and I decided instead of going and spending a ton of money on Christmas gifts we would finish our basement (I think the gifts would have cost less :) ) But anyway we now have a place for our daughter to play and we can move a lot of stuff out of our upstairs living room. We just finished setting the room up for her...

This is the finished product. It’s the biggest project I have done with hardwood and I learned a lot.
I finished it with two coats of Minwax gel stain and 3 coats of Minwax brush-on lacquer. The stain was really easy to work with and especially to get into all the inside corners. The brush-on lacquer I had a lot harder time with. I couldn’t get it to lay down smooth on the large plywood pieces because it seemed like it was drying too fast. I’m sure there is a way to f...

I’ve almost finished the garage cabinets. My parents were in town last weekend to witness my daughter’s baptism. So, we took the opportunity to spend some time together in the garage.
We were able to build the remaining three drawers in just a couple of hours. I decided to use pocket hole joinery for these drawers for two reasons. One: I just got a new Kreg Master System, so I wanted to give it a try. Two: I knew pocket hole joinery would be faster than setting up the dado...

I just got home from my visit to the ER followed by a stay in a hospital bed. That was not very enjoyable. Neither were to two days leading up to the decision to go to the ER at 9:30 Tuesday night.
However, when I got home today, I found that Amazon had delivered my new Kreg Master System. I can’t wait to put it to work. (I’ll have to wait a while since I’m not back to 100% quite yet.)
Once I get some good use with this tool, I’ll try to remember to post a re...

We just adopted a boxer after having fostered a few of them and falling in love.
Tyson is a great dog and I figured a dog like him needed a nice bed.
I drew the design using Sketchup and it has been in the planning stages for quite a while. I bought a Kreg pocket hole jig and basically planned the construction around that.
It’s currently in-progress in my shop so I should have another entry soon with some in-progress pictures.
Feel free to leave any comments or s...

Over the past several years I have been needing and wanting to buy or maybe just make a workbench. I have gone to five woodworking shows in three states over the past two years. At these shows and in several magazines or catalogs I have noticed many of these really nice woodworking benches that are way far out of my reach as far as the $$$ involved. Finally after a elongated sick spell lasting nearly two months I finally get few boards together, screws, a very few nails and other items tha...

Hello folks!
Hope all have had a wonderful Christmas. Mine has been hectic but overall a great year. I’ll keep it brief as it is late…
I received two notable woodworking gifts this year.
The first is a Bosch CS20 Circular saw. A circular saw has been on my list as a future purchase and I had no clue I would be getting one. It came from my grandfather and all indications so far show it to be an excellent piece of equipment. It is stout unit and I look forward to making som...
