Howdy Fellow LumberJocks! I just joined a few weeks ago and found this blog feature to be pretty cool. It’s great to see so many folks sharing their experiences with the woodworking community. Finishing the lidI wanted to get the lid to fit tight, so I cut a piece of ply to fit the box and then centered it under the lid. I used this to scribe my layout lines.I taped the corners of the box to help minimize tearout. Pushstick was used for actual operation. I busted out Wonder Boy for trimming the lid to perfection.Finished rabbet. (Note Kristin’s toes)I cut and glued more keys to secure the miters.I used a file to follow the plane this time. Wow. I’ve had a busy weekend, but unfortunately I was not able to finish as much as I wanted. Since I knew I was going to be using my router, I first fixed the problem I had with it. I cut my stock to width and length, and I regret having cut the carcase pieces it to length. This made the next step, running it through the router, much trickier, since I had to use my push-pad to control a 3-1/2” long piece as it was getting a rabbet cut on it!
