Well, things have been busy at home and at work. I finally got back in the shop today to work on a cherry display shelf for some close friends in Central Oregon. I am using my Kreg Pocket Screw Jig for the joinery. I thought it would be fun to share my day with a small video. Hope you can bear with me as I show you this remarkable jig. I also have a Kreg Foreman, a semi-automatic production machine, but thought the small portable jig would be best for this project.

—-more thoughts on, Wood Cognition
....and in this walking out the lay of land, I sat a while and took some thought, this tea of wood is quite the drink, all filled with herbs of heady moss….
—-till in the sitting i soon was shown, that much we pass is soon not seen, and then i knew the why of wisdom hid, since each must learn out of cisterns they have filled….
I was sitting here looking into this spot of wood space, while thinking of the coming days ahead...

Thoughts on Wood Joinery
And so I thought I would write a little on the subject of: How do you join that wood? In what I am writing here I mean no disrespect to any workers of wood by calling some way as better or an-other way as lesser, but I am only trying to show that if one will pay attention to or take heed to their own calling, then the way will open up before them as to what works best in their attention to woodworking detail.

Providere, a Work In Process
Well I finished roughing out a shape of the last of four legs last night with the drawknife, and I thought I would post a picture of where the ‘in the process’ of Providere now stands.
1) Cherry backsplash, needs to enter into it’s hand sanding phase, starting with #120 grit….and ending with some slurpies….
2) Table top, needs to be worked some more on sides with a timber slick to get a better trueness….

In a recent Blog by Obi, he discussed using a router to cut mortises, and this started up a discussion, in which Don cautioned against getting a Hollow Chisel Mortiser. I think there are good thoughts on both sides of this debate, and I don’t mean to do anything other than offer some more experience about purchasing and using a Mortiser, and other methods of cutting mortises.
As in anything, the more money you spend, the better tool you get. If I were buying just what I wanted, not what ...
