Shop Skills #2: Card Scrapers the Video!

12-29-2008 03:43 AM by Todd A. Clippinger | 54 comments »

It’s Finally Here! I have completed my first feature woodworking video. This video shows how I sharpen my card scrapers. It is a simple process and I kept the instruction simple with some close-up video action. I hope this post goes smooth, it has taken me all day to figure out how to finish up the video and 3 attempts to get it online. So this is a pretty big moment. I can work on polished video later but I have to start somewhere. I hope that this video on sharpening ca...

Puzzlemaking with a Scroll Saw

04-17-2012 09:18 PM by KnotCurser | 2 comments »

The first step in making one of these puzzles is spending some time in front of the computer. You have to have an image to cut as well as create a properly sized puzzle overlay. If you are cutting something like a dollar bill or a playing card, you will still need to create a puzzle overlay. I have decided to make something for my wonderful Mother-in-Law who happens to be one of the most dedicated Baltimore Orioles fans I have ever known. I know she loves Brooks Robinson, so I found an ...

10-01-2007 08:09 AM by David | 13 comments »

This is the first in a series of screencasts and video clips demonstrating how to capture and upload digital content to Lumberjocks. The ultimate goal is to add to your skill set and your ability to enhance your LJ Projects, Blog entries and Forum topics. I will be correcting some broken photo links for my forum entry on the Kreg Miter Gauge. ...

Design Thoughts on a Shaker Inspired Bench Video Re-edit

10-15-2009 06:47 AM by Todd A. Clippinger | 15 comments »

I am not attempting to milk this out, but I was very unsatisfied with my edit job on the first release so I worked it over again. This version is actually 9 seconds shorter but I have added a handful of still images for close-ups to show more detail. This gives added value to the video as it provides greater visual information. This video is not about the how-to for constructing the bench. It really is about the design and thought process for creating it. I cover many of the design ele...

The Deluxe Router Table...Improved

01-12-2011 04:54 AM by woodworkerscott | 19 comments »

I made a video awhile back on improvements I feel I have made to the Deluxe Router Table featured on the New Yankee Workshop with Norm Abram. In the video I do not have a router fence on the table, for good reason…..I am still designing one that will do everything I like. I attach a temporary one when needed. There are several changes I think that needed to be made to be more practical in both design and cost. Example of topics covered: Enclosed router compartment- not necessary and ...

08-04-2013 04:01 AM by newTim | 2 comments »

Day one at David Marks finishing class in beautiful Santa Rosa. David and wife Victoria are terrific hosts, the class is small with an interesting variety of folks, and the weather couldn’t be better. And hey! I’m on vacation! I’m really enjoying the pace of the class with enough structure to keep it moving, but plenty of time to get to know David and the other students and to get all our questions answered. My goal is to establish a broad foundation in wood finishi...
