OK, so yeah – another blog about a router table, but since I’m going to make one , might as well document it while I go, maybe someone can benefit from this.
I’ve had a Rockler router table top + plate + fence which I got when I bought my router (Bosch 2 1/4hp). This project is really coming together. That biscuit jointer really makes quick and easy work of cabinet assembly. I have never really gotten a chance to use it before.
I ordered an Incra Magni-Lock router plate through Woodcraft. It seems to be on the slow boat. But hopefully it will come at about the time I need it.

I have always liked CAD programs but have used them very little. I was an engineering major for a short time in college and took a few technical drawing classes, which I loved. I always thought it would be neat to own some sort of CAD program but never bought one. I think it is great that Google now offers one for free! I had never heard of Sketchup before I found LumberJocks.

This video features a new crosscut sled built for my shop. Inspiration for this sled came form books in my library and countless Internet searches. This is a simple project for the shop that will increase safety, speed and accuracy of crosscuts on the table saw. Construction is simple with a MDF base, maple fences, Incra Miter Bars and T-Track. The plan file is available for download.
Hopefully this will inspire a sled for your shop!

I wanted to add to the mitre gauge posts. Wayne posted a photo tour of the Jessem System, and David posted initial impressions of the Kreg System.
The incra 1000SE is seen here in the Incra Miter Express sled. Both are available at Woodpeck.com You can see the kerf where the mitre sled straddles the blade in the tablesaw allowing for the cutoff piece to be coplanar with the workpiece. This decreases the chance of the saw flinging the cutoff piece back.

So, No more messin’ around! Its time to cut the hole!
With my template all biscuited and glued up, I shaved off the other half of the biscuits and sanded everything flat. With a little sanding and shaving off the inside I got the router plate to fit perfectly inside. So I decided to use my fabricated router plate template to make a one-piece template. This way I could also test the accuracy of it.

This is the exciting start of my new “proper” router table:
Pile of wood… I had the lumber yard cut my plywood to size since it is difficult/impossible to maneuver a full sheet in my shop.

This is a model for the Woodpecker’s router table plate sized 9-1/4” x 11-3/4”. it is the same size for all their lift/non lift plates, also same size for the pinnacle plates, Jessem plates, and incra plates that are 9-1/4”x11-3/4” in size. the material width is 3/8” but can be modified to fit other materials.
(although it is advertised as 9-1/4”x11-3/4” is it slightly different – I think the margin of error is in the 1/1000 range. but ...

More progress on the router table…
I installed the drawer slides today. This is only because I intend wanted to put the table top on and it was hard enough to do with the cabinet face already on. I really should have put the drawer slides in first. It took me forever and I had to bend down through the cabinet or reach through the drawer openings to precisely mark, measure, drill and screw the slides in place.
