"Hobbit Holes in MyWorld" --by RusticWoodArt #18: Reflections on Beavers and Trees

39 days ago by frank | 17 comments »

Reflections on Beavers and Trees Out here in the woods, I am part of a whole picture where what happens with wood….also happens to all involved with wood, plus those un-in-volved with wood….hmmm, are any who are really non-existent from wood? Can a worker of wood be selfish and think that it’s all about wood and that all else will just have to take care of them-selves. Well the answer is yes and no, one can be selfish and think only of their needs when going for wood, but...

Events at our cabin! #7: A cute Bear Cub near our cabin.

332 days ago by Dick Cain | 16 comments »

I’m sorry, I haven’t been very active lately, I’ve been familiarizing myself with my new computer. It takes time to transfer the oodles of my picture files, plus learning a new system. We were up at our cabin a few days last week, closing it down for the season, & on the way home this Cub ran across in front of us. The road is real close to the lake, & by the looks of his fur, he had just taken a bath. I stopped, & took these pictures from inside the car. I...

Hi,I’ve been playing around with my new” iMac. This will send you to my forum topic, Buying a new computer. I found out that there’s more work involved, when you replace a computer. When I got my first PC, I was starting from scratch, but this time transferring files, plus trying to learn some new things on this system is quite a chore. My Son was helping me the other day so he got in the show. It’s kind of strange having such a large screen, but it sure nice...

"Slabbin' at Wood" #3: "Slab Wood Tales" --by RusticWoodArt

340 days ago by frank | 12 comments »

Slab Wood Tales ....in the working of the wood, the stories of those who came before me, are revealed as enlightened nuggets of wisdom, where ‘ancient ones’ give thanks by offering to tell me their tales…. So today I thought I would travel some ground….or is that lay some ground work here and post some pictures. I’m going to throw in a plug here and say thanks to Zooomr for all their work that they have done, and have made available to all. Using this site ...

"Hobbit Holes in MyWorld" --by RusticWoodArt #5: "Untrammeled Possibilities and Unexpended Opportunities"

Untrammeled Possibilities and Unexpended Opportunities ....out here is where i was first awakened, awakened to what-where-when and why, awakened to all the un-trammeled possibilities that call my name, awakened to the un-expended opportunities i gather to…. Out here silence starts off as a thing of beauty, but the silence soon passes on to a sound of great talking going on between the different players in this outside play of nature…. ....walking the woods out here is...

"Old Growth and the Ancient Ones" --by RusticWoodArt

346 days ago by frank | 11 comments »

Old Growth and the Ancient Ones ....’old growth’ that I have found! While out Sunday afternoon in the forest here, we (my wife and I) set out to discover some new territory in the surrounding habitat of the woods and I happened to come upon some pines that were growing on an eastern slope of a hill. At the bottom of a ravine I first spotted an old pine that had escaped the logging crews of yesteryear. At first I thought this one was the only one out there, but after looking ...
