EDIT: It looks like wide images don’t fit well into the format here. Any tips on the recommended max image width to use and that sort of thing? 25% of the right side of most of my images seem to be chopped off, which I can fix by shrinking the images, but I feel like they would get pretty small in that case! Hello everyone. This is my first time posting something on here, after many years of lurking silently and absorbing a ton of knowledge from the good people on here. I figured tha...
I am just posting my journey for my upgrades to the Harbor Freight Dust collector I got. I have been using it stock except for the wynn filter cartridge and have been happy with it so far, however I have been getting some leaks and will smell the wood dust coming from the collector after cutting items. So I figured if I am going to seal the leaks, I better just build a whole new cart and add a Thien Separator. The first post here is detailing the Thien Separator. I went over to his we...
So first off I have a 14” Ridgid Bandsaw and have made a few modifications to it including a riser kit. I’ve made a jig to saw up to a 4’ log into boards. The thing works well but creates a lot of dust and the dust collection on this saw was the pits. I’ve seen the dust mod idea on the site a few times and it makes perfect sense. The little trick I found when doing this mod is that I used a 4” piece of 4” dbII (type of electrical conduit). I usually...
My spring clamps have a lot of miles on them. Which mean that little plastic coating on the end is gone. And sometimes i need that on the clamp. So here is a little tip which replaces that. If you like the video, we post new ones every Thursday at our youtube channel. www.youtube.com/bigchopperoo
I bought the Ridgid 15” Drill press with the intention of keeping in the box for at least 30 days so I could watch the price and see if it would go down since the salesman said it was on clearance. Well….... that lasted about 45 minutes, i realized if the price did drop I could just take my receipt up there! Good thing I was acting like a 6 yr old on Christmas b/c the one I bought was missing a bunch of parts, like the cast iron base. They must have sold me the one they were gr...
The hardest dust for me to breathe is the fine stuff that comes out of the orbital sander. I have used the Porter Cable Model 333 for about 10 years now, and have done a lot of sanding with it. I am sure there are better, more expensive sanders, but I like it, at least so far. Here is a photo showing my collection. The one I bought two years ago (gray one with yellow tinted lacquer overspray on it) is now dead, but I keep ...
