03-31-2017 05:12 PM by ofthemound | 6 comments »

Hello Lumberjocks my name is Shane and I live in Upstate NY. I was born and raised in the North Country, but have moved around a bit. Finally back home and looking to build my woodworking experience through different means from cabinetmaking, trim carpentry and framing. A wise man told me that regardless of what my goals were for carpentry it isn’t useless gaining experience in different forms. That the culmination of my experience will make me a knowledgable and well-rounded tradesman....

Back to LJ - This Time With Participation!

Howdy all, I just wanted to reintroduce myself here, I joined LJ many years ago and sadly didn’t do anything but lurk. I’m really putting forth an effort to get more involved with the community and share as much as I can from my shop. A couple years ago, I decided that I wasn’t satisfied in my career and began my new occupation as a custom furniture/gift builder. Although that change occurred a couple years ago, I’m still trying to figure out how I want this to wo...

Hello, My name is Jeremy (firm cyber hand shake). This is my first blog entry for my account here at LumberJocks. Short intro. Please excuse my spelling. I got a message back from Martin early this morning saying that registrations were opening back up today and here I am! I’ll leave my intro-telling to my profile, but I just wanted to say that I look forward to being a part of this group!

Next Leg of the Journey

11-24-2009 06:04 AM by David Craig | 7 comments »

Throughout my life, I have had incidents where fate comes in and seems to give me a push in a direction that, in hindsight, seems to be where I needed to launch to begin the next leg of the journey. A few days ago, I responded to a Dremel update on Facebook and won a new tool to add to my collection. In the process, I met a woodworker named Jordan Straker who befriended me on Facebook and recommended this site. So now I am here and all moved in to my new virtual workshop and already feel quit...

I just finished signing in ( I’ve been lurking for about a month) and I thought it would be a good idea to say hello. I’m John Abraham, and I’ve been a professional carpenter/ painter/ plasterer/ concrete mason since leaving the USAF in 1982. After seeing some of the projects on here, I find I have wasted these last 20+ years. Not really, but my chapeau is definately doffed to quite a few of you jocks! I currently run my own business remodelling homes or whatever other pr...
