I’m sort of sad this week. It’s just frustrating to me, what is happening now. In the big sense, and the little Lumberjock sense.
An artist and L-J’er that I greatly admire, Thomas Angle, can’t find anyone to buy his work, and he has shut down his business operation

I have been a bit frustrated, as I can’t use my shop until the outside portion of our house reconstruction is complete which should be very soon. I have been using the down time to restore my Stanley bench plane. As soon as I get back in the shop, I have plans to make a video tool review so I am quite anxious to get going!

Hi,
I’ve seen these questions raised on several threads, and for many years didn’t know the answer to these myself. I just stumbled upon the “answers” which reminded me of the questions, so I figured I’d post it here for anyone that might be able to use it. Let me start by saying that the first part of this blog although posted earlier today, was actually made about a year ago, I just posted it today as a preceding part to the one you’re reading now… tried not to double post and ‘push’ other’s from the blog front page, so I waited half a day between 2 posts, although both were made ready at the same time.

Thanks to the likes of WayneC, Thos. Angle and Bob #2, I’ve been accumulating hand tools. One of the latest additions to the shop is a beautiful wooden plane. Made from Indonesian ebony and brass, it has an adjustable high-speed steel (Rc62-64) blade.
I bought this plane for three reasons:
1. It was cool to look at.2. It didn’t cost much3. I thought my son could play with it and it could be his.

Mine was about 7 years ago, I still wasn’t doing anything woodworking like, and we had moved to a new apartment where the bathroom door wouldn’t close since it was too tall and would hit the jamb (well- actually we mounted one of those over-the-door-hanger thingies which made things that way) so, my wife suggested we get a handplane to fit the door to the (now lower) opening.
I have never worked with a handplane before , and the closest thing I’ve ever held in my hand was...

Stanley Bench Plane Restoration UPDATE
PDF ELECTROLYTIC RUST REMOVAL INSTRUCTION SHEET
My Stanley Bench Plane restoration project is progressing well. All parts have been cleaned of rust using the electrolytic rust removal process described in the prior blog entry. I was really impressed with how clean the parts were after the electrolytic de-rusting process.
As a reminder, this is NOT a plane with intrinsic collector value. I am restoring this “user plane” to be used on my bench...

Here is a picture of the only tools I used to build the shower stool I posted a couple of days ago.
No glue, no nails, no fasteners, not in time for the Summer Joinery Contest. ;o) Two stopped sliding handcut dovetails, two through tenons and voilà !
..
By the way, this picture was taken in the actual “workshop”! :o)

I forgot to mention on the first part of this blog that I don’t have any pictures of construction on the bench. This was due partly to my camera crapping out on me and I really didn’t know this thing would turn out as good as it did.
