Design flaws and desperation!

Well for a while now my wife has been really wanting a hall table to put ummmm, well hallway stuff on. I have for some reason been really struggling with the design. At first she wanted it to have a shelf on the bottom to hold other odds-n-ends. After playing around with it and throwing wood here and there, it was just not going to work out.
