I’ve been planing on making a book case for a spare room in my house for awhile now. This contest was great in getting me to focus and finally finish the design.
If you’re familiar with the Greene brothers and the Gamble house, you’ll see a lot of the design for this book case comes from the smaller of the two living room book cases.It’s a good size to fit into a guest bedroom. First off I’d like to say thank you to everyone for the warm welcome to Lumberjocks, you seem like a really friendly bunch.
The thing that influenced my design of this bookcase is my design for a desk that I will be building for my office. The desk that I will be building has a set of file drawers the can be seen from the side so that it shows off the details for the joinery, so I thought I would incorporate a set of drawers at the bottom of this bookcase.
