I’ve been hanging around LJ’s for a while now, enjoying all of the projects that people are posting. A lot of the work is truly magnificent, and is certainly inspirational. While I’m in the process of finishing up a set of 8 dining room chairs (finally!), I’ve developed an interest in turning, especially segmented bowls and the like. Earlier this fall, I attended the Toronto Woodworking Machinery Expo (see blog) and one of the representatives that I had the pleasure of speaking with was Norman Framton, the Sales/Marketing rep from General.
This week, I connected with Norman by phone and we talked further about the company and product lines.

I’ve been meaning to blog this for awhile. I’ve gotten a few messages asking about my blade guard so I wanted to give the story.
As many of us know, the blade guards that come with standard table saws are awkward to use and often get taken off and never replaced. My original motivation for the blade gaurd, however, was not safety. It was dust control. When I set up my shop in my basement, I got overhead dust filters and dust collectors with piping. Yesterday, after our bonfire breakfast (6:30 AM with our family, sitting around the fire laughing, eating), Rick and I headed to Toronto to the Woodworking Machinery and Supply Expo.
