Untrammeled Possibilities and Unexpended Opportunities ....out here is where i was first awakened, awakened to what-where-when and why, awakened to all the un-trammeled possibilities that call my name, awakened to the un-expended opportunities i gather to…. Out here silence starts off as a thing of beauty, but the silence soon passes on to a sound of great talking going on between the different players in this outside play of nature…. ....walking the woods out here is...

Artistic furniture

364 days ago by Jojo | 11 comments »

I just found by pure accident a website of a pair of artists/cabinet-makers. This is the kind of furniture that leaves nobody indifferent. Either you love it or you can’t stand it. Me? I do confess I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I drool over those sexy huge and old slabs and the live edges and I do appreciate the craftsmanship required to turn them into art/furniture but, on the other hand, it is not my style of choice. I find it a tad extreme and heavy for my tastes. They ...

2nd Update on the Church Hymn Number Board Commission Project

535 days ago by Mark A. DeCou | 11 comments »

Today, Monday, I took photos of what I have accomplished on my Hymn Number Board that I am building for the St. Anthony Church in Strong City, KS. On one hand, it seems like I made a lot of progress since my last blog late last week, but when I look back over the photos tonight, I can see that the number of hours it takes me to do this tedious work is mounting. I started the project with the previous blog: http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/decoustudio/blog/1508 Also, since I had enough in...

Hanging Homemade Crown Molding: Suffering Through Mistakes & Learning Life's Lessons.

689 days ago by Mark A. DeCou | 11 comments »

I wanted to tell a little more about my experience with crafting my own crown molding, and share a couple of lessons I learned along the way. Previously, I showed how I formed and sanded the profile on the last blog of this topic, and so today I thought I would complete the task by showing the installation of the molding, and a few “gems” I discovered along the way. First off, I made very sure that my cabinet that I am hanging this crown molding on was as perfectly square on...

WoolGathering I Go ....not all who walk know where they are going, not all who wonder know how to use their mind, not all who waunder are lost in the woods of their choice, but then who but a poet can woolgather on paper just as in the forest…. "Hobbit Holes in MyWorld" --by RusticWoodArt #4: "Coalescing With Wood"

262 days ago by frank | 10 comments »

Coalescing With Wood ....my life is lived as a worker of wood, these stories i tell are the fruits of my dreams, where it not so i would have told you so, just as gifted stories tweak my imagination in the all that i am… —-yes i laugh at my-self for the rustic wood spirit i am, just as when i pause in the woods for silence, and often out here i can hear the ancient ones laughing also, these are as much their stories of laughter as mine…. ....stories are told among t...
