01-01-2018 09:48 AM by crowie | 43 comments »

Every good FORD has a big V8 engine and here’s mine… BUT first a huge THANK YOU to Bruce, aka “htl” for his valuable assistance in helping me get this build off the ground with extra photos, drawings and encouragement… This is my first attempt at both a “blog” and a build project like this… I’ve watched, been inspired and encouraged by so many top toy & model makers on LJ’s, I’ve been challe...

Hot Rod FORDS #11: Nearly Finished

02-17-2018 07:56 AM by crowie | 10 comments »

Nearly Finished!! The body and back are glued to the chassis. The radiator is glued in plus added stays. No windscreen/windshield as I’m sure it wouldn’t last the little boys play tests. The rear bumper bar is done, BUT I’m keep that surprize for until the final revival. So all the needs doing is the seats glued in place, the wheels glued into the chassis plus a little detailing before 3-4 coats of satin polyurethane clear…..

Boss

Creating custom woodworking pieces becomes art when I find passion behind a piece. My son got a new truck recently and like most young men, this became his pride and joy. My wife and I have often joked with him that he was going to wash the paint right off. For Christmas, I wanted to make him something special. I took a picture of his truck with my phone one evening while he was over for dinner and used this photograph to create a 3D woodworking picture of his truck. I wanted the truck to...

Hot Rod FORDS #7: We have a radiator...

02-07-2018 09:12 AM by crowie | 6 comments »

We have a radiator… Not an easy task but a lot of guess work and sanding have proved the deal…. I’ve been working on the chassis, securing the engine in place, the positioning of the rear wheels, also the steering wheel, gear stick, and pedals….The steering wheel is similar to that which Dutchy showed in his “how to”, though I’ve had difficulty finding a good range of timber button at the local large sewing shop. Were I’m in ...

Hot Rod FORDS #8: I think the chassis is done....

02-09-2018 08:48 AM by crowie | 6 comments »

I think the chassis is done…. Worked out the front wheels positioning then the radiator position, adding a support to give a better glue surface area… I made up a set of transverse springs for the front, shaped the rails plus added a bumper bar….. I have also positioned the steering wheel, gear stick plus the three [3] pedals…. ALL EXCEPT the rear bumper bar and tail light but they’ll come later….

random #14: I bought a truck tonight!

05-06-2009 10:14 AM by Gary Fixler | 11 comments »

No pics yet or anything, but after looking at an ‘06 Ranger at the Ford dealer with 42k on it, I kind of fell for an ‘05 Tacoma with about 85k on it at the Toyota dealer. A little older, a bit more used, but it just had a lot more I wanted. It’s a certified pre-owned with 3yr/3k bumper-to-bumper, and 7yr/100k drivetrain warranties, power everything, AM/FM/CD, access cab – 2-door, but has a small back, and little half-doors that make loading things/passengers back there...
