My Workbench Saga
I am a relatively new woodworker. I had grand visions of building furniture when I started on this quest nearly five years ago but all I have managed to actually build are storage sheds, animal shelters, and a couple of amateur shelving units that I am embarrassed to show anyone with real skills. My journey toward building an actual piece of furniture I can be proud of has progressed in fits and starts. I have read countless books, magazines, web articles, and forum posts...

Well it’s been a little bit since my last blog, but here is what I’ve been able to get done in the shop over the past little bit.
I last left with a freshly glued up top, and a question on what timbers to use for the legs. Well I decided to use the four maple beams I had for the legs. Even though two of them contain the pith, and some rather large cracks, I would rather have that then 3 different types of wood that looked only slightly better, so maple it is.

Not only do I love maple and walnut, but I think they love each other too. They look so damn good together… they work well together, and they compliment each other beautifully. What more could a couple ask for?
Well tonight I managed a wee bit of shop time. Between my 4 hours of sleep last night, being up at 4:15 am, and dealing with a two year old and a four year old that don’t play nearly as nice together as maple and walnut do, it wasn’t much shop time. But it was enou...

Disclaimer: This blog follows my Magen David Board that is already finished and posted here
Once everything was glued up into a single slab, it was time to plane it flat and parallel. one of the strips I jointed happen (don’t ask me how…lol) to be jointed off square, throwing the last 4-5 strips in the glueup off flat (mostly flat). I was tired at this point, and just figured I’m not going to rejoint it, but will pay the price and plane it all down at the cost of having a...

So the first piece was really a “how does the trigger works” more than anything. some positions felt a bit awkward, and others’ were a mystery but all in all, a good learning experience.
as I posted earlier, the 1st piece is in front, while the original piece is in the back:
Lesson Learnt:
With the second piece, I followed some given advice added to the already advice I’ve been collecting online for the past who knows how long from people like Charles Neil...

I have finally been able to bring this plugin to the state at which I’m happy with it, and feel comfortable publishing it.
here is a quick preview of what the plugin looks like, and what it can do:
EDITED: MOVIE HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH HIGHER QUALITY VERSION:
The plugin is offered for sale (not pitching it, just stating a fact). I’ve created a website to host and manage the plugin which can be found here:
WUDWORX plugins page
Where you can also find a tutorial page...

Hello everyone! Since I discovered Sketchup several years ago (I have been Skecthing since release 3..pre Google) I have spent a great deal of time watching tutorials and prowling through the forums trying to learn as much about this great software as I can! Since I have been a member here I have seen some great blogs by other members about Sketchup and how to use it, so I thought I would throw my hat in the ring! I see allot of people saying I wish I could use Sketchup better, or I gotta lea...
