AP400 filter upgrade!

150 days ago by Gary Fixler | 12 comments »

I got an exciting shipment in today – a canister filter for my Delta AP400 Shopmaster 1HP dust collector! Suction has been declining a lot these last months. The bag has been getting dirty but I just hate spending an hour blowing dust out of the thing. I’m always in a rush, stealing time wherever I can to work on something. It’s also a really filthy task. Some people have backyard decks as big as my entire back yard, and I end up getting dust all over my house, garage...

Garage Re-Do #17: Super Sucker Cleanup

265 days ago by MyOldGarage | 1 comment »

Ok—I’m not going to argue the virtues of the dust collection in modern psychosis treatment . . . but my therapy session is all about cutting up wood. Hmm . . . I’m on the Lumberjocks site so I guess I’m in the right place. :-) My first order of business was making sure I was properly protected. shop improvements #1: Air filter

291 days ago by JMB | 5 comments »

Drove out to Geneva today to pick up an air filtration unit for the new workshop. The painters have been complaining about sawdust in their art (oops). The fellow I bought it from built it himself from scratch. Despite that, it is very well designed, probably better than most manufactured units. Twin filters (intake and outtake), fan and motor completely removable for service without pulling any wires or bolts, and it is pre-wired for low and high speeds with the flip of a switch. Only ...

Dust Collection #2: infiltration.... filter me this, filter me that

319 days ago by PurpLev | 14 comments »

I ordered a 0.3 micron replacement filter from Wynn Environmental to replace my Jet DC1100 30 micron bag. Originally I was going to make a simple review for people to benefit from my experience with the new filter I got… but since it had gotten a bit more complicated, I figured this is blog-worthy, and the ‘regular’ review will follow once I experience more the performance of the filter. Disclaimer: I have had nothing but great experience from Wynn Environmental, from ...

Dust Collector #2: The final solution - completed.

583 days ago by GaryK | 23 comments »

Well, this is the second and final part of my dust collector retro-fit. Here you can see the two boxed as I recieved them:.. Here they are unpacked and stacked. I removed the Dust Dog label. I figured that it didn’t do anything but restrict air flow. It came off easily.. Here you can see the handle that created some confusion in the first part of this blog... As the handle is rotated it makes these “paddles” brush against the pleats of the filterknocking off the ...
