I changed my mind about the Christmas Wreath I was building for the Festival of Trees. Even though I built three sets of ornaments for a wreath I decided to skip the wreath due to financial issues. That doesn’t mean I didn’t still build and donate something to the event because I did! I just changed my donation from a wreath to a Christmas Decor item. Actually it was a pretty fun project as I first had to make tweaks to the Santa Hat. I like how the hat turned out mysel...
I chose the types of wood I’m going to use to build the AmbersBear inlay I’m putting on the Festival of Trees wreath hanger. This slice of burled maple I found will make an awesome hanger and provide the perfect place to highlight an AmbersBear inlay. I’ve already built the Yellow Heart / Bacote and the glitter filled Purple Heart ornaments for the wreath so I laid them out with the hanger to see what it all looked like. Placing all the various colors together helps...
Earlier this summer I started to experiment with using a glitter filled epoxy as a substitute inlay material when making Christmas OrnamentEZ for EZ-Wreath. This entry talks about the process I went through to make these ornaments. Because I’m a fan of Purple Heart (PH), I just love the deep rich violet color the wood turns after a little exposure to light, I chose it for my base material. Well that and I had more PH sitting around than any other wood… Still not a bad choice....
This is a picture of the wreath I built last year for the Boise Festival of Trees. Not bad for a first attempt at building a wreath, or in other words I thought it turned out pretty cool… Yeah… that’s my Daughter, she turned out pretty cool too!!! :) For the wreath being built this year I’m using EZInlays AmbersBear as the main focal point of the wreath hanger. Because it’s Christmas I decided to put a Santa Hat on the inlay too. I found this AWESOME piece...
You may remember that a few weeks ago I made some posts about this remarkable slab of old growth redwood that ended up in my garage. If you want to see more pictures of the Slab take a look at this 90 second video I posted on the YouTube EZInlays channel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unqcPsbwoYs The slab is now in sitting in my front room and not in the garage but that is beside the point. The point is I now know what I am going to do with the Slab but I need help doing it. I...
