Good news first: I am pleased with the color of the panels. I am not a big fan of staining, but it does have its place, this being one of them. I wanted something much more red that what was available naturally, so the Cabernet stain did the trick. Since these photos, I have applied two coats of wipe-on poly to each side. I will apply at least one more coat per side, This process is a little slow because, although I could apply a coat every eight hours, I am only in the shop once a day...

I spent a good amount of time on this project, but most of this time was spent on design changes, shopping for supplies, and researching techniques—and not so much in the shop.
The design changes was initially prompted because I realized that I do not have enough Zebrawood veneer for the interior, and that there was none immediately available in the lengths that I needed and for the price I was willing to pay. After my experiment with the clocks I made for Christmas I want to try something a little different. A co-worker liked the clocks but commented that she would prefer something in black.
My sister happens to be an interior decorator. She has commented that I should make some items for a shop she deals with. This shop happens to cater to contemporary items.
