A Woodworking Drill Press Table

1480 days ago by Bob Simmons | 7 comments »

The drill press is one of the great woodworking tools for a woodworker to have in the woodworking shop. However, the small metal table that often comes with this tool is rather limiting for woodworking. So, the answer to this limitation is to either buy a drill press table or build a shop-made drill press table. If you choose to purchase the accessory you could have it that very day if you have a woodworking store like Woodcraft or Rockler close by. Then again you could find a drill press tab...

Extremely Average #46: Her Name is Angie

1626 days ago by Ecocandle | 13 comments »

The response to yesterday’s blog, “I Suck”, was tremendous. The number of views went way up. I can only assume that there were a great number of people who agree whole heartedly, and likely have had this opinion for some time. When they saw the title, they were eager to revel in my realization, of that which they had always known. The comments were wonderful. I responded to a number of them and I looked up a lot of the products that people suggested. I am much smarter today. Thanks...

Extremely Average #45: I Suck

1627 days ago by Ecocandle | 28 comments »

On April 24, 1990 the Hubble Space telescope was launched into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. The images they sent back were blurry. It was one of the darkest days in the space programs history. After polishing the primary mirror for a year they had screwed it up, worse than Billy Buckner in the sixth game of the 86’ World Series. 1930 days ago by newTim | 0 comments »

I remember Sen. Bob Dole telling the story of a day spent with his father loading hay bales into the barn’s loft. When he reached down to pick up the last one his dad stopped and asked, “do you know which one that is?” He went on to answer, “that’s the one we’ve been looking for all day.” Well sure enough I’ve finally gotten to the part I’ve been looking for. This is where all the templates, jigs, drilling, and such come together. N...

Circle Drilling Jig

2585 days ago by Karson | 4 comments »

Circle Drilling Jig I did not design this jig. I didn’t make this jig. But I’ve been using it for the last couple of weeks, and I thought that I’d post it as an ingenious drilling jig. It was designed and made by John Nole of our Mason Dixon Woodworkers Club. He passed away about a month ago, so in memoriam I wanted to post this jig that he designed. John was a machinist by trade and owned his own machine shop. So he was always looking for ways to make repetitive tasks easier and fas...
