Well, I was asked to put together a blog on how I made my segmentd ring. Since I had to make a new one for myself, (first one too small) I thought I would go ahead and do a step by step picture tutorial. My first time ever doing something like this , so hope it comes out OK.

I have been asked to do a tutorial on how I made my Box Joint Bracelet
I will be trying to go Step-By-Step and not leave anything out. I know I am missing a couple of pics but will try and explain things as good as I can.

People seemed to like the hinges I made for the last box,so I thought I’d take a few minutes and share how I made them. I cannot take full credit for this, as this is an upgrade I’ve made to my old drill press table with an idea I’ve seen on Woodscrap’s workshop page.
My original table was just 3/4” birch plywood, which was too thin, and when I installed the t-tracks in it, the slot I routed left the plywood useless as there wasnt enough material left to keep it sturdy, and not enough material for the screws to hold into. You may not know it, but my little wife, (”Bairbre”), that’s Irish for Barbara. She has a wee bit of Irish in her blood.
But I think her heart is 100% Irish. You all must have seen the, Click here> Irish Claddagh, I carved for her.
Now I’ve decided to make her a Shamrock shaped box, for this years St. Patrick’s day.
The finished dimensions are: 7 1/2” High x 7” Wide x 4” Deep.

Drawer Parts Galore
I started by squaring some panels to the width of the drawers. To save time I rabbeted the entire panel. Later I would rip them to create the sized drawer fronts.
Testing the drawer front fit. You can see the drawer pieces in each cubby awaiting their fronts.
The backs of the drawers are held by dadoes 1/2” in from the back of the drawer. I got to spend some quality time with the new crosscut sled.If you squint you can see that there is another 1/2”...

I’ve been working on this Jig for quite a while now, about 2 months perhaps. I got to say that I’m very pleased with the final results, even thought there still some minor flaws that I need to complete (but I feel that the main part is ready to be shared)
This jig was published on Shopnotes #107 just in case anyone would like to try to build this one too. I already tried on my drill press and works like a charm.

Hey everyone, It was suggested that I start a discussion on how to find and harvest burls. Please give your input also.
I don’t deal with straight grain that often. I cut and sell burls for a living so here is what I know.
It is illegal to harvest a burl without permission. of course if it is on your own property you can give yourself permission. What I do is put an ad on Craig’s list saying I want your burls. Most people don’t know what burls are. So you don’t get that many calls....
