Yesterday I had some errands to run. On the way home, we saw that our lumber yard and hardware place was having its annual yard sale this weekend. In the past, we have found some OK bargains there. Lots of what was on sale was stuff that we didn’t find very useful, but once in a while there was something good there. In any case, we figured it was worth it to stop by and take a look.
They had a tent that had a variety of smaller tools on sale. There were a couple of drill presses...

Still working on the marking knife. Now I need to drill a small (3/32”) hole for the tang of the blade. Got the bit, but it’s too small for the chuck of my bit brace. I decided to “mount” the bit inside a dowel, and either put the dowel in the bit brace, or just twist the “dowel drill” by hand.
First, I hammered a nail into the dowel, since it was easier than trying to twist the drill bit into the wood by hand. I wasn’t sure if it would split the d...

Got Wood?
yeah, i got wood (and no it’s not because i’m glad to see your teenage daughters). i drove to kona (the other side of the island) to pick up the hem-fir. i had to go to lowes because home depot didn’t have any untreated, construction grade 2×6’s. i now have a workbench, so here’s a couple pics of my unimpressive, yet functional workbench and another one of most of the project wood:
