Not a lot of progress since the last entry but I have decided to go with simple box drawers with lock rabbeted joints.
I watched a video from Wood Magazine where they conducted strength tests on various joints. They concluded that the half lap, finger, and rabbeted joints were the strongest, stronger apparently than a dovetail for a drawer box. And it’s a lot simpler. So it may not be as cool as dovetails but I think it will be more than strong enough and will be quite a bit f...

If you need a simple self closing drawer here’s what I did and it works very well. We have earthquakes in the North West on occasion: hopefully just little shakers and the more often the better so they aren’t real big ones. When we come home we have to straighten pictures on the walls and close drawers that shook open. see my cabinet project http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/23536-196x130.jpg?1207733781Our bathroom has a counter that is right tight to the door open...

Tilt Outs
I started the tilt outs optimisticaly. I began by making filler strips to bring the hinges flush to the face frame.
Setting the hinge.
After lots of adjusting (3 hours) I got the drawer to fit reasonably well. The weird thing about these hinges is that they dont just tilt. They kind of tilt, slide down, and then push in. They are more intended for overlay applications and really should have been installed prior to the cabinet installation. I had to cut down the drawer front...
