I’ve been really busy trying to learn SketchUp.
My Son needs a new front porch on his home.
I decided this would be a good way to learn SketchUp.
His old concrete steps have been gradually leaning, & it makes the whole house seem crooked.
He said if he sits on a step, he feels like he’s going to fall off.
This was quite an experience for me, because I’ve used a T-square, & triangles for so long.
This project took me an awfully long time, but I learn...

Well, we got the permit, & finally started building it.
The demolishing of the old porch didn’t take too long,
because it was so poorly constructed, it was hanging by a thread.
They poured the slab over some clay in between the foundation walls,
The clay had settled over time, so there was nothing holding up the slab.
there were two 16” 2×2s just under the threshold, each with about 5 nails in each.
There was nothing holding up the 6 foot length along the...

I’ve made a few minor changes to the deck plan.
We should start building it next week.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You may notice that I learned to apply the plan to image a lot better. Practice! practice! The corner support pipe also looks much better with a darker paint.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I modified the stair railing.
This one is also out of the order intended, but I’d like to keep these things together.
I still haven’t completed the workshop reorganization project. There seems to be so many distractions that sidetrack me.
I recently made a combination shield, & dust hood for my lathe. I looked at a lot of them that you can purchase, but I opted to design my own to fit my own lathe better. It slides under my lathe bed.
I guess you can put this into “Getting workshop organ...
The shelf is made of 3/4” Birch plywood, with a Black Ash fascia...
Debbie challenged me to a Video duel.
Pardon my stuttering, & stammering, because I’m just a Lumberjock, & I don’t care.
Notice the Lumberjocks T-shirt, my PC camera shows a mirror image, & I can’t figure it out.
Don’t forget to watch MsDebbieP’s happy dance.
Also Martin’s Happy Dance.
Once I got out there, I shook off the shakes immediately.
I commenced to install my new Triton router into my router table. I had to cut a new opening in my table for a larger router plate. It took me awhile, because I had lay the new plate into position, & scribe a line with a sharp knife. Then clamp down some guide boards in order to rout out the new opening. I ended up with a perfect fit. After fastening the router to the new plate, I dropped it into the table. Then I ran a test wi...
I opened the shed door the other day, & discovered water on the floor.
I had just made a new shed door about a year ago. I thought the wind had blown water in from under the door.
Then I noticed sawdust on the floor with drip marks coming from above.
I looked up, & saw some funny looking white stuff coating the ceiling up in the corner above the
door. The top plate of the wall studs also had piles of sawdust on it, & ants galore!
Right away I knew I had some work c...
