You may not know it, but my little wife, (”Bairbre”), that’s Irish for Barbara. She has a wee bit of Irish in her blood.
But I think her heart is 100% Irish. You all must have seen the, Click here> Irish Claddagh, I carved for her.
Now I’ve decided to make her a Shamrock shaped box, for this years St. Patrick’s day.
The finished dimensions are: 7 1/2” High x 7” Wide x 4” Deep.

I still haven’t completed the workshop reorganization project. There seems to be so many distractions that sidetrack me.
I recently made a combination shield, & dust hood for my lathe. I looked at a lot of them that you can purchase, but I opted to design my own to fit my own lathe better. It slides under my lathe bed.
I guess you can put this into “Getting workshop organized”, category.

We’d like to share an experience we had way back in 1973.
I just happened to find these slides I took of the fire at our school, which was across the street from our home.
It was on a Saturday afternoon, & we got a phone call from my mother.
She said “the Brooklyn school is on fire”. We happened to be in our basement rec-room.
We went upstairs, & our house was full of smoke, it was a dreadful feeling.
We thought our house was also on fire.

I’ve been checking out mobile bases for my bandsaw, & decided to just put casters on it.
I checkout the base of my bandsaw, & I decided it was built plenty strong enough to handle the casters.
That’s all I had to do was cut some 1” x 2” x 3” blocks to fit in corners between the channel cross members.
I drilled some 1/2” holes in towards the cabinet, so the large flat fender washers would fit.

Since I bought my first computer about 4 years ago, I’ve digitized all of my pictures.
I had all of my slides put on disks, & made a jig, so I could take pictures of all of my old negatives.
It took me quite awhile.
Now I’d like to show some pictures of my Grandparents farm where I used to spend my summers.
As soon as school was let out, I’d jump on a Greyhound bus for a 200 mile trip to Northwestern Minnesota.

Well, we got the permit, & finally started building it.
The demolishing of the old porch didn’t take too long,
because it was so poorly constructed, it was hanging by a thread.
They poured the slab over some clay in between the foundation walls,
The clay had settled over time, so there was nothing holding up the slab.
there were two 16” 2×2s just under the threshold, each with about 5 nails in each.

I’ve made a few minor changes to the deck plan.
We should start building it next week.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You may notice that I learned to apply the plan to image a lot better. Practice! practice! The corner support pipe also looks much better with a darker paint.

I’ve been really busy trying to learn SketchUp.
My Son needs a new front porch on his home.
I decided this would be a good way to learn SketchUp.
His old concrete steps have been gradually leaning, & it makes the whole house seem crooked.
He said if he sits on a step, he feels like he’s going to fall off.
This was quite an experience for me, because I’ve used a T-square, & triangles for so long.

This afternoon I went out, started working on the drawer. It sure felt good to be back in the shop again.
This really helps shorten the winter.
