Well lumberjocks I just had to share my good fortune / blessing (whatever term you prefer) with ya’ll. While I’m going to school I’m working for the Plant Services dept of the university in the carpentry dept. It’s pretty much the perfect job for me and i use it as my stress relief from school work. the carpentry dept is the most called on dept when things go wrong cause we can fix anything, right? well needless to say we get around campus quite a bit and the other...
Since I have installed the Delta T2 fence on my Craftsman tablesaw, I have had a few people asking how I installed it, especially, how I installed the fence so that it would zero properly. For those that are thinking about installing this fence on a craftsman, you WILL have to drill new holes in the rails. You can use one of the existing holes, but you will not be able to ‘0’ the fence. I wish that I had taken pictures of each step to further clarify the information listed be...
These are the pictures after I completely took this saw apart, lubed it, removed the majority of the rust, repainted, and reassembled. All i have to do now is to finish hooking up the switch and this saw will be ready for a top.
So I finally made an excuse to buy a new tool – a bandsaw to be precise. The problem is that I can not foresee a need for a heavy-duty model, nor can I justify its expense at this time. For that money, I could simply ask my wood supplier to resaw it for me for a few bucks. I went to my local BORG and could only find mid-priced models, $400-800. This was more than I was willing to spend. Then I went to Canadian Tire, since there is currently a 1/3 off sale (thanks MsDebbieP for pointi...
Hello,I found the best find ever in my life. I found a Delta Homecraft 10” Bandsaw in an alleyway cast away near a “free” sign. I thought to myself, “That bandsaw deserves better and I took it home. There she is in her miskept beauty. On of the things that really pecks my brain is the stand. It says, “Property of CC Wakefield & Co. Ltd.” on it. Charles Cheers Wakefield is the founder of C.C.Wakefield & Co(Now known as Castrol). What’s weird is ...
Yup, you read that correctly.I’ve been on a search for a while now trying to find a half decent table or cabinet saw. I’ve jumped back and forth from used on Kijiji to a new Ridgid 4512, back to used, then I was going to buy a new Grizzly G0690, right up until Monday. That’s when I got the call. My brother in law sent me a link Monday morning to a Rockwell/Delta Unisaw 34-450 on Kijiji that was posted late the night before. It was a really nice looking saw with no damage ...
Well I was finally able to go pick the saw up and I’m every bit as excited as I was when I first bought it. I’m going to be doing a bit of work on it before using it. I need to rebuild the right wing extension and I’m going to build a router table into it. I also need to give it a good cleaning inside and lube it with some sort of dry lube (any suggestions?). The cast iron surface has some very minor rust spots that will need to be removed, what would be the best way t...
This is a rambling blog about tool reviews, and not a tool review itself. Last week I picked up a Delta Shopmaster TP305 planer at Lowe’s clearance sale… $180. I haven’t actually used it yet. I’m having second thoughts. It was the display unit… the last they had. I had previously read decent reviews, but I am wondering if those reviews covered this model. The price was too good to pass up. Maybe I should have passed? It had no box or manual. Manuals ...
About three months ago, I wanted to build a small furniture piece for my rec room. This quickly ballooned (as these things do) into putting together a full workshop. The plan to pick up an old $100 portable saw morphed into a recent contractor saw, and then on a whim, into a cabinet saw. Here’s what I discovered: The saw: There are no pictures of the saw fully assembled because it was dark when I bought it and in pieces when I got it home. A few shots of some parts: I’...
This is another Craigslist buy my dad made for only $60. And for $60, this saw runs like a champ! its over 50 years old and runs like it just came off the line. It just looks like its been around for a while.(These are pictures before i began restoring the saw)
