09-24-2008 08:40 PM by woodchips | 19 comments »

Well lumberjocks I just had to share my good fortune / blessing (whatever term you prefer) with ya’ll. While I’m going to school I’m working for the Plant Services dept of the university in the carpentry dept. It’s pretty much the perfect job for me and i use it as my stress relief from school work. the carpentry dept is the most called on dept when things go wrong cause we can fix anything, right? well needless to say we get around campus quite a bit and the other...

Unisaw 34-450 for $300

05-27-2011 01:39 AM by cranesgonewild | 19 comments »

Yup, you read that correctly.I’ve been on a search for a while now trying to find a half decent table or cabinet saw. I’ve jumped back and forth from used on Kijiji to a new Ridgid 4512, back to used, then I was going to buy a new Grizzly G0690, right up until Monday. That’s when I got the call. My brother in law sent me a link Monday morning to a Rockwell/Delta Unisaw 34-450 on Kijiji that was posted late the night before. It was a really nice looking saw with no damage ...

Help me choose my first table saw!

01-28-2010 05:09 PM by Jonathan | 18 comments »

As you can read by the title, I do not have, nor have I ever owned a table saw. And I think it’s about time I acquired one. I have a project I will be starting of built-in bookcases with a faceframe and doors, plus an adjoining mantel that I feel will be a heck of a lot easier to complete if I have a table saw for the task. That project is here http://lumberjocks.com/JonathanG/blog/13322 if you would like to give any input, advice or thoughts on that. (Beginning here, the next three ...

The Unisaw Experience #1: The deal of a lifetime... my first Unisaw (maybe my one and only!)

07-29-2012 01:54 AM by MrMeasureTwice | 18 comments »

Fellow Lumberjocks,I submit to you the story of my Unisaw (so far…). On June 26th, a Unisaw popped up on Craigs List with a price of $300 – I hesitantly clicked expecting one of two things to happen. Either the posting would have been deleted already because I did not see it within 37 seconds of it being listed and sold, OR, it would actually be a heap of PARTS for a Unisaw. But, I clicked anyway… Lo and behold, it was still listed, and NOT a pile of parts! Immediately cl...

New Tools from the Woodworking Show

03-26-2008 03:20 AM by Greg3G | 18 comments »

Yeah, I know, I’m two weeks late in getting this done, but hey, Life sometimes gets busy. (of course that’s not the real reason, I’ve just been a bit lazy.) I made myself a promise that I would get a new table saw this year. My craftsman contractors saw was at the limit of what I wanted it to do. It would do fine on regular ¾” stock but started to give me fits when I went to cut thicker stock. So Long Story short, (I know, too late) I offered to sell the saw to my brother, and with o...

Score! #1: Delta Jointer circa ???

01-08-2013 12:31 PM by FeralVermonter | 15 comments »

We were over at my mom’s place the other night, and the guy she’s been shacked up with for the last twenty years (they refuse to get married, but they’re lifers) offered me his old delta 6” jointer out of the attic of his shop. Needs a little cleaning, as you can see, but he told me it worked just fine. Well… my new-found tool-restoration enthusiasm got the better of me, and I had the thing in dissected not long after taking this photo (without ever taking ...

Delta Unisaw #1: Cleaned up and trying to decide if I should keep it.

01-27-2008 07:27 AM by Kevin | 15 comments »

I have decided to put all of this into a blog instead of the forums. Here is a link to the previous forums. Should I buy this Unisaw? http://lumberjocks.com/topics/1877 Unisaw Advice Needed? http://lumberjocks.com/topics/1989 Well, I finally got pictures of it. I wish I had pictures from before working on it. I have spent a lot of time trying to clean up the cast iron top. I tried to get pictures that show what it looks like, but it is hard to capture. I picked up a new tape for the ...

Delta T2 Fence #6: How to setup and install on a Craftsman tablesaw

01-19-2008 07:58 AM by Jamie | 13 comments »

Since I have installed the Delta T2 fence on my Craftsman tablesaw, I have had a few people asking how I installed it, especially, how I installed the fence so that it would zero properly. For those that are thinking about installing this fence on a craftsman, you WILL have to drill new holes in the rails. You can use one of the existing holes, but you will not be able to ‘0’ the fence. I wish that I had taken pictures of each step to further clarify the information listed be...

AP400 filter upgrade!

07-01-2009 02:33 AM by Gary Fixler | 13 comments »

I got an exciting shipment in today – a canister filter for my Delta AP400 Shopmaster 1HP dust collector! Suction has been declining a lot these last months. The bag has been getting dirty but I just hate spending an hour blowing dust out of the thing. I’m always in a rush, stealing time wherever I can to work on something. It’s also a really filthy task. Some people have backyard decks as big as my entire back yard, and I end up getting dust all over my house, garage...
