TOE, the Trickle Outward Effect #1: TOE the Trickle Outward Effect

On my walk this morning I paused to admire the Willamette River. It is wide and this morning it was quiet, peaceful and full. As always it was flowing past me, underneath my footbridge. The body split apart and came back together again with grace and ease. After admiring it’s awesome beauty I was reminded of my work and the feeling of running in place. On the surface the river looks so peaceful so laid back like nothing is really going on. It’s so full that rapids aren’t even showing whe...

Shop Skills #5: Using Toner to Add or Change Color

1761 days ago by Todd A. Clippinger | 35 comments »

Sorry for the False Start Guys… I had the privacy setting turned on when I posted to YouTube. (D’oh!) It’s Finally Here! Whew! It takes a lot of work to shoot a video, edit, and get it posted to the internet. I am still struggling with posting to the internet. But it would be dishonest to say that I have not had any teachers. Like anyone else, I read everything that I can get my hands on and I have inflicted myself on many a hapless professional craftsmen. I want to introduce the LJ community to one of my mentors. His name is Mike Blatnick and he lives in...

A tale of 2 meals

2279 days ago by Alan | 2 comments »

On a recent trip, my wife, Penny, and I had dinner at 2 different restaurants with 2 completely different results. When we made our reservations, we told each one about Penny’s severe lactose intolerance- no dairy whatsoever.More… Both places were in the same price range. The first was an upscale national chain- very corporate, impersonal and LOUD. Even though we let them know about Penny’s situation in advance and also told the server, he still gave her a dipping sauce m...
