eBay project selling topicHelloThought if there is interest I’d start a blog about selling projects on eBay. RegardsDAN Selling Your Crafts & Art on the Internet: My new Strategy with Crosslinked Lumberjocks & Etsy.comThere is an ongoing debate about whether Lumberjocks should be the focus of a marketing plan by professional woodworkers. There are quite a few professionals on this site now, all of us trying to make a living. I define “professional” as someone that makes all, or most of their income from their woodworking and craft work. Selling something once in a while from your hobby work really has nothing in common with “having” to sell something every day to buy food and s... Design Decision - need YOUR helpI am trying to decide on the style corbel that should go on the pool table legs that I am building. Short one: Long One: Which one do you think looks better? Thanks for your input! John Nixon – Buffalo, NY – www.EagleLakeWoodworking.com Charles Rohlfs Oak Desk, Stickley Ellis Table & Iconic Crafts, Nelson Atkins Art Gallery Kansas CityWow! I made it, I finally made it, and oh what a surprise to find a museum with Iconic Furniture pieces intermixed with a lot of European, Asian, Native American, Egyptian, and some strange Contemporary Stuff that someone else calls “art”. ————————- WARNING: If you are easily offended by my silly notions of what looks good and is well built, please don’t read any farther. I’m just giving my opinions, that is what ... My Journey As A Scroll Saw Pattern Designer #218: Making Lemonade from a SnowflakeIt is amazing to me just how much difference the way you look at something can make. Looking at something with a different attitude and perspective can magically change something from unpleasant or distasteful to something that is fun and exciting. Physically, nothing at all has really changed. Only the way we look at it. This is an incredible power that we all have within ourselves. It costs nothing, takes none of our time and all we need to do is consciously apply it and it can make al... Ms Debbie P's 2007 Shop Tour and Inspection #6: Tuesdays with Schroeder (and company)We are off to Oregon to visit Schroeder's shop. The Gnarly Wood Shoppe is a man’s shop (well actually two to three and a dog, according to the sign). From the taxidermy to the office art, it’s pretty clear that this is a manly environment. And this is what they make there. The über table and the über Thorsten side table. I’ve made jewelry boxes that took days to make that don’t come up to that drawer. And that book-matched crotch-grained top, breadbo... Video Journey - Oak Dovetailed Blanket ChestI recently finished a dovetailed blanket chest as a wedding gift for my good friend. I think it came out pretty nice. I was able to get it into his house while he was away on his honeymoon. He and his new bride really loved it! It’s a great feeling knowing that they will have this gift and cherish it forever. I made a video about the entire process. Here’s a link to the video. Check it out, and leave a comment telling me what you think:http://www.eaglelakewoodworking.com/post... Arts & Crafts Dining Room Set #15: He's Got Legs...Today, I bit the bullet and tried out my 45 degree lock-miter bit to make the four-sided quarter-sawn white oak 4” x 4” legs. I outsmarted myself by trimming the edges at 45 degrees. Unbeknownst to me, the router bit needs all the meat it can grab to make the “tongues”. As a result, I have very little “lock” in my lock-miter. I have just enough to register the corner, but I’ve lost about half of my glue surface. Sigh… The good news is that... Darrell Peart's Aurora Sofa Table #7: TruantWell, it looks like I won’t have the money for Darrell’s class at William Ng’s school this weekend (or Disneyland either for that matter). I’m pretty bummed. I had to do the right thing and spend my tuition on sailing instructor seminars to further my “real” career. Luckily, the woodworking classes are offered often (I’ve got them all on the calendar), and Mickey will always be there. I may just have to bite the bullet and plunge back into the s... Frank LLoyd Wright Barrel Chair TableFrank Lloyd Wright’s influences on architecture and the arts and crafts style is everywhere. Buildings, bridges, stained glass, pottery, artwork, graphics, furniture and more. I’ve always admired his rendition of the barrel chair. This table is inspired by that work.Invision quartersawn white oak, 36×72 and 29 inches high. seating 8 people. |
