Well we had our second of 4 shows today. I woke up this morning with a massive backache (and it is still here), I can tell you I feel bad for anyone out there that experiences this on a regular basis. But anyway the truck got loaded and we drove down the street and I started to get things set up. Got everything in place. It was a rather slow start to the day but traffic picked up and we came out well. Big seller today was more of my wife’s crayon rolls and also my pens made a gre...
We just got the letter in the mail on Friday we have been accepted into our first Juried Craft Show. It is going to be the first week of March so the wife and I are leaning into the shop and sewing room full tilt for the next few weeks in order to have a enough product ready to go. It is a good thing I got her sewing room finished last weekend. I will keep folks up to date with some of the stuff I am doing and how I am dealing with mass quantities. Looking forward to the fun and the challe...
Nothing overly special to note from this show. Unlike the last 3 though a large number of my games sold. It is very strange as to the diversity of he shows. Especially considering the last 3 have all been in a 5 mile radius of each other. We are happy though we paid for the table and made bit as well. so it is a good show. We decided we will be looking into at least one maybe two spring shows and then due some more next year. I am looking forward to knocking out a large run of my games over t...
Due to work and several other things I did not a get a lot of shop time last week. I would have posted last night but I got sidetracked by the TV (9/11 broadcast) I have managed to start preparing for several holiday events. The first is the 2nd annual haunted garden tour at my work. One of the staff has traced out several things that need to be cut out and I got the first of three witches cut out and half of a second one. Here is the first. They will all be painted black to be used as...
Hey All, since we have been accepted to the March 2nd show the shop has been become a very busy place. First order of business has been to build a number of my peg games and come up with a few new designs as well to add to inventory. I have almost all of them printed, Now I have to find a decent day to be abel to use the garage and spray them before drilling out something like a half a million holes, well may not that many but it is going to be a lot. Prepped wood- Printed and sanded- ...
Greetings all, As I mentioned last week I wanted to take this 3rd week of the month and focus on selling products. First a little background… My wife and I both enjoy making things, she in her sewing room and I in my shop, we decided about 4 years ago to participate in the local HOA craft fair in the fall. We decided to stick with one major theme for both of our stuff… Portable Pastimes. We didn’t even have enough items to fill one 6’ table, we shared a space with my ...
As my wife put it, “It is an odd feeling knowing that people we don’t know are now using stuff that we made.” Yesterday we sold at our first craft fair. It was a rather nice day and the venue was small, the local HOA puts it on each year at the community center. Our focus was primarily Puzzles and Games. We have shopped a number of the local shows the past few years and noticed it was a bit lacking in this area so we figured it would be a good area to focus on. DW did a number of sewn game...
Yesterday we completed our 3rd of the 4 shows we are doing this holiday season and after a very slow start business picked up, which we were happy about that. This time around though I sold only two pens but had a run on peg games. I am going to be making more this week so I have some extra stock for next weekend’s show. The other big switch came in the fact that we sold no crayon rolls this time but my wife took 6 orders for her tailgate checker boards. You can see a few of them here ha...
