We’ve been watching the Bear for over a week now, & the little birds haven’t shown up.
I think the bear didn’t meet the proper specifications, or the bird building code.
I also believe the Robins, & Squirrels may have scared them away.
It’s sitting too much out in the open, kind of low to the ground.
I’ve heard of birds starting a nest, & leaving it for a different location.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This old Bear carving is being put to some good use, Maybe a Birdhouse.
The other day I heard a pecking noise, & discovered a Chickadee pecking on our Bear.
At first I thought he was eating ants, but I soon found out he was building a new birdhouse
inside the Bear. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He could see it was hollow, by peeking in a hole up above..

Here is the other inlay table that we have been working on. This one is inlayed with turquoise from Arizona, the top is burled cottonwood, and the base is juniper, we had to add an extra leg for support. It was finished with Bullseye sealcoat and satin polyurethane.
18 1/2” tall 43” long and 24” at the widest points, the top is 2 1/2” thick.

We have fninshed the first step in the Turquoise inlay process, I was really surprised how the color really pops out. We are waiting on our sandpaper to arrive and once it gets here we can get these tables completed

Hi Y’All:
It’s a little late in the season (August 2008) to be collecting tree bark. Most of my bark collecting is done in the Spring and early Summer when the sap is running and the bark slips easily from its wood. However, the rustic mindset requires me to take opportunities as they occur.
This weekend, while clearing some brush in an over-grown thicket, I found a young cottonwood tree that needed to be culled. It was about 5” in diameter at chest height and it was tall and stra...

Here is how the table looks right now. Everything is bolted together, the branch pedestal, cottonwood base and cottonwood top have been bolted together.
My husband has finished the first step in setting the stone inlay, we now need to sand down the stone so that is is smooth, then add a finer stone to fill in the gaps.
