Sharpening chisels—forget weaker micro bevels Controversial though it may seem, and though adopting micro-bevel methods for sharpening chisels may seem to make sense, a freehand convex bevel actually gives exactly the same sharpness as any micro-bevel method, but takes only a fraction of the time to develop. Hand plane DIY convex.Or Mike meets Mads style… SECOND PART.Press here for first part. To remind you, this is what we are after. A hand plane, ‘block plane’ size, made for a rounding of 22 cm (app. 4 inch).As you can see Krenov style, and a touch of Japan, at least this was my wish… Time to make the wedge.I wanted the same wood as the plane, and had an old floorboard, that could be used.Cleaned it up, and cut it to same size as the plane iron, so I have a little slip in the ...
