04-20-2008 05:07 AM by Nathanp | 3 comments »

Hello all, Found my way here from Popular Woodworking editor’s blog. Nice place you got here. This is my entry for the Popular Woodworking bookcase contest. It is also my first Sketchup project. The shelf is the foundation of several variations I’d like to do (formal\classical, Asian). I’m still learning Sketchup, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get pictures of those up before the deadline. A couple of pictures: And here's a link to the ...

01-13-2008 01:13 AM by Ryan Shervill | 13 comments »

Well, I’m new to the whole blog thing….the ‘puter and I rarely see eye-to-eye, so I’ve never tried….well see how it goes :) I am making some progress on the two entries. The “not just any box” catagory is a great opportunity to do something I otherwise can’t really do…build somethiing that I’d seen before (sort of!) 2010 Contest?

07-13-2010 11:53 PM by falegniam | 6 comments »

Hi all,I don’t know if everyone pays attention to the annual contest on LJ’s, but this one I don’t understand. I just can’t figure out what this contest wants us to do. I even asked a couple of friends of mine, thinking that it was me not knowing what this has to do with. They did not know either. How are we suppose to show fluidity or movement in wood? If that is what this is saying. Can someone please explain what they are asking us for in this contest? Below is ...

Baby Furniture #9: One Man's Junk contest question

07-28-2008 07:07 AM by Kevin | 2 comments »

We helped him haul a bunch of good quality lumber out of a place he rented to his farm. After that was finished, h...

Thorsen Table contest #8: pile of small parts

05-27-2007 05:49 AM by scottb | 9 comments »

I should have made a paper template of the parts for this table (actual size). Until I finally cut everything down to size I didn't really see how small this table really was, and with the off cuts I have lying around (had I been more careful early on) I could have made a pair of tables! Lesson learned there. Oddly I did this with my first box in order to figure out my cut list (and how to best maximize a tiny piece of cherry I used for it. If only I remembered. Anyhow, I'm feeling ...
