I’ve entered my step stool in a contest on SmartFlix (think NetFlix for DIYers). While I do believe in “May the best man win,” I’m no fool: all the other contestants are probably trying to get votes just like I am! So how about it? Click on the link to go to the contest page. Thanks in advance for your vote! P.S. I plan to do a write-up on SmartFlix in the near future, so stay tuned for that.
My Journey As A Creative Designer - Woodworking and Beyond #20: Contests and pricing and movies - Oh My!
Today’s post will be short and sweet. (Yah, right! you are all saying!) I really am caught up in a lot of ‘busy work’ stuff today and hopefully can accomplish everything I want to. I finished polishing up my articles yesterday and I emailed them to my editor ahead of the box of three items he accepted so I can hear sooner rather than later if he wants to use them or not. I guess I will never get over the apprehension of submitting things. I don’t look at it in as...
Hi everyoneif you have some time and think my video is worth a like or dislike watch my video and vote please. Mr. Ramsey will be picking a winner tomorrow.
I know posts come and go rather quickly here but I thought I’d see if I could generate a little Lumberjock interest in something over at the PopWood blog. Glen Huey was out at my place last week teaching a class on the tea table he made for the June 2008 issue of Popular Woodworking. Amongst all the teaching, building and visits from Karson and David, we managed to squeeze in a bit of fun. The weather here last week was absolutely perfect. Each day we ate lunch outside. And each day,...

Hello all, Found my way here from Popular Woodworking editor’s blog. Nice place you got here. This is my entry for the Popular Woodworking bookcase contest. It is also my first Sketchup project. The shelf is the foundation of several variations I’d like to do (formal\classical, Asian). I’m still learning Sketchup, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get pictures of those up before the deadline. A couple of pictures: And here's a link to the ...
The king is dead. A few weeks back, while we sure had some fierce gusts of wind, which caused my chess trellis to tip over. And while the (wood only) joinery of my trellis survived the impact with the ground (rocks and/or pottery) the wood itself did not. I found everything still together, save for the King himself. I originally intended to reattach it, but had the quick inspiration… a little poetic je ne sais quoi… some sort of “art (or hidden meaning) is in the e...
Ah, life. It’s what happens while you’re busy making other plans. I had (ok, still have) a great idea for both contests. Yes, two birds with one stone. And what was even better, was that it required only small amounts of time and attention, spread out over the duration of the contest. It was required actually. As I would be turning pieces of green wood, and needed to stagger the assembly, so as the pieces could dry gradually and mother nature could do the joinery for me. No need f...
