Frank Lloyd Wright Contest #1: The Rules

351 days ago by JoeyG | 34 comments »

I would like to start a friendly competition based on the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. The rules are pretty basic and I have tried to make them so that anyone can enter no matter what your woodworking style is. 1) The piece must be based on a work or works of Frank Lloyd Wright. 2) The piece must be a box or vessel. Basically it must be able to hold something inside it. 3) Any woodwork technique can be used as long as it fits in with the other rules. 4) Any materials can...

Thorsen Table contest #3: getting started

2223 days ago by scottb | 17 comments »

One of my first ideas for this challenge was to make a “green” table – as in recycled, not painted. It may have been original to the house, but has been collecting dust for the past 5 or so years since we bought the house and replaced the exterior doors – this one had dog door cut out of it and was ...

Thorsen Table contest #4: what so many legs you have

2220 days ago by scottb | 16 comments »

I should have left the those at the final width, I got a little carried away. A little creative thinking and milling a few more pieces out of the remaining door stock, and I'll have legs that will ultimately be a mere 3/16ths skinnier, but and I'm able to proceed using only this reclaimed door lumber. I've thought the inspiration ...
