Cool/practical design for disabled

78 days ago by Dr_Unix | 0 comments »

Today I saw a really cool and useful (I think) design on Yankodesign.com. This is a kitchen multi-tool for people that have use of only one hand/arm. I was drawn to the very simple, clean, and elegant look. It’s something anyone could have in their kitchen or store away easily. Just check out this picture. If you go to the website they have more pictures that show how to use it to cut apples, bread, grate cheese, and open those tough foil covered yogurt containers. Check it out. ...

My prize for the Summer LumberJocks Contest.

102 days ago by Karson | 30 comments »

I received today my prize for winning fifth place in the Summer 2009 LumberJocks contest. I wish to thank Major League Woodworking The prize consisted of a T shirt ”Property of Major League Woodworking Shop Dept”, A Maple Mallet which is modeled after a Baseball Bat. It’s made from an approved bat billet and is made at one of the countries premier baseball bat factories. Also a Maple Marking Gauge for giving a perfect ”base line” for starting woodworking...

A little contest at Popular Woodworking

131 days ago by acanthuscarver | 4 comments »

I know posts come and go rather quickly here but I thought I’d see if I could generate a little Lumberjock interest in something over at the PopWood blog. Glen Huey was out at my place last week teaching a class on the tea table he made for the June 2008 issue of Popular Woodworking. Amongst all the teaching, building and visits from Karson and David, we managed to squeeze in a bit of fun. The weather here last week was absolutely perfect. Each day we ate lunch outside. And each day,...

The Sawdust Chronicles Spring 2009 30-Day Build Challenge #1: Pre-Contest Kickoff

237 days ago by SplinteredBoard | 0 comments »

The Sawdust Chronicles’ 30-Day Challenge is simply that – a challenge. We will be challenging you, the beginning woodworker, to complete a woodworking project within 30 days. We pick the project, you find or create the plans, you iron out the details, you complete the project, and you reap the rewards. The level of difficulty of the challenge should be self-scaled depending on your level of woodworking talent. A majority of the challenge is dependent upon the honor system. There ...

project challenge #1: Hey Martin! Where's the holiday decoration project challenge?

352 days ago by tooldad | 1 comment »

I finally have time to decorate and there appears to be no challenge for the current holiday as there was for Halloween. Any chance of creating one? If not I challenge everyone! Since I will be an entrant, I cannot be a sponsor, that’s the rules. My entry will be up be the end of next weekend. Tooldad

Step Stool #10: Hey Brother, Can You Spare a Vote?

407 days ago by Eric | 5 comments »

I’ve entered my step stool in a contest on SmartFlix (think NetFlix for DIYers). While I do believe in “May the best man win,” I’m no fool: all the other contestants are probably trying to get votes just like I am! So how about it? Click on the link to go to the contest page. Thanks in advance for your vote! P.S. I plan to do a write-up on SmartFlix in the near future, so stay tuned for that.
