Frame / Panel Keepsake Box - Construction

On the suggestion of a couple comments from juniorjock and dantheboxmaker, I decided to try my first blog…anywhere…ever. I don’t really know what I’m doing, so I hope this turns out. I just got a lot of neet tools at an auction today. Just wanted to share with you.In dont need the wood rasps so if any one wants to make an offer I would sure entertain one. There are 8 files I won’t be keeping. Also I threw the Makita sharpener on ebay. I already have one.I got the scoll saw for $60 with the stand! I am excited! Does any one know what it is worth?!!!

Here’s a picture of what my wife got me for Christmas… this gift was based on advice from Steve Ramsey's video for the spouses of woodworkers on gifts. Great Big Thanks to Steve!!!! 2 Board Modular Bookshelf - Woodworking Basics

This modular bookshelf is a great project for beginning woodworkers and you veteran woodworkers as well. Requiring only 2 boards to build and a limited amount of tools, this project can be made in a day or a weekend. the design can be modified by building more cubes or changing the orientation of the unit itself. Add some color and it makes a great display and shelving unit for a kids room. Give it a try.

Shown (not in order): Bubinga, Black Palm, Hormigo Negro, Ash, Lacewood, Padauk, Indian Laurel, Bloodwood/Satine, Yucatan Rosewood, Wenge, Bocote, Purpleheart, Bolivian Rosewood, Cocobolo, Yellowheart, Brazilian Cherry. I’ll also add some Douglas Fir and Spruce. The plan is to use these 18 different wood varieties to make a patchwork table top. I cut the pieces for the table top and laid them out where I want them. steaming #2: Handles for bending strap

well I searched my garage for material appropriate to make handles/ends for my new steam bending strap. (re: Lee Valley)I was looking for a piece of 2×2 that was dark and possibly luan that I remember having. couldn’t find. then I looked through all of the stuff that I did have handy… beech, could be chair parts, osage, don’t want to waste it on something that’ll be left outside….spf .. to soft, oak (red or white) chair parts again. then I bumped into these....
