Amazing Day at the Salvage Store 26FEB2016

So after talking to the owner of the salvage store for a little while he let me go down and pick the basement where all of the items from his estate buy outs go before they put them on the sales floor. I was floored with the amount of stuff that he had down there. Picture a room the size of a football field filled with boxes, trunks, shelves and crates FILLED with amazing stuff. Classical miror gilding #2: Clay and gilding

Couple weeks ago I have been making some progress on the frame. I did the clay on the part that will be water gilded, red everywhere except on the columns which were ocre. I also started the gilding with 23K gold until I run out of gold. I received it recently and will soon carry on the gilding. I will try to do videos to show the process, especially for the balls which have a nice neat trick. The balls also receive yellow then red

The Classic Style is the most difficult of the saw cut styles to master. It involves cutting each piece separately, from packets of veneer, each composed of only one color or species. Hall Table Designs Would like Your Feedback

I recently picked up some 8/4 Walnut and a beautiful piece of 4/4 Jatoba. I have decided to build a Hall table and have come up with two designs that would exploit the grain of the Jatoba. I would like your input on which design you lean toward. Idea 1 is modern and the concept is that the frame is mitered in two directions to create a continuous “ribbon” of walnut that is unbroken.
