Lie-Nielson Toolworks USA. Just Another Reason to LOVE 'em!

731 days ago by Greg | 5 comments »

I use my Lie-Nielson Adjustable Mouth Block Plane almost daily in my custom fly fishing net building. I actually have a few pics of my plane on my website (www.sierra-nets.com) It is a beautifully crafted tool and makes minced meat out of wood. A while back, I noticed I was having some difficulty adjusting the blade tightening screw, known as a “spinwheel”. He asked: “Hey Brian, I got this Walnut tree I cut down some time ago. Can you use it?” Now when one says Walnut tree in Northern California, this most likely means a “Hind’s Walnut”, better known to woodworkers as Claro Walnut. Everything about this wood says Claro. It is from an area that...
