Plywood Storage Cart #4: Squaring up time

02-04-2012 04:14 AM by chopnhack | 0 comments »

Ok, despite this morning’s drama, I manned up (just kidding, I felt better, if I still felt like that nothing would have been accomplished today) and got something done. At this point some thoughts and opinions on squaring up the A frame and how would I go about measuring the angle to make sure its true 5 degrees from centerline on either side? What I was able to do today was rather surprising. I almost finished, but didn’t know how exactly to get things lined up, so I clamp...

Fix and repaint table… Retro style

01-10-2012 01:03 PM by Nighthawk | 2 comments »

Sisters table has broken legs. It is a shame really as it is pretty old table and still pretty good nick. After looking at it best we can do is glue and the try and brace the base a bit more. Now big sis wants to sand whole table back and redo just to spruce up. Now we all love wood, but her house has heaps of natural wood showing and with the table, it actually becomes to much so she is thinking of … eeeek painting it. (shock horror I know, but I actually on this occasion agree with her, ...

Wedding Clock #10: Like Frankenstein, It Stands Up

07-05-2011 01:17 AM by kenn | 2 comments »

I am up to the nerve wracking part of this build. I need to put some dados into the sides of the clock, but since both the sides and front/back are angled, the dados need to be angled. I’ve been thinking about how to do this since I started this project. Use a stack dado set and the table saw? Yeah, that would work, but I don’t think the cut will be as precise as I need it to be and the cut would register on the front edge of one side and the back edge of the other side. That...

Pecky cypress goodness #1: Shop cabinet build

06-03-2014 03:33 AM by TheFridge | 2 comments »

I needed some shop storage and I wanted to use some pecky cypress I was given. So I figured drawer fronts of pecky cypress would be an awesome start. So I started by getting some free plywood after some old cabinets were demo’d on a job I was on. I would’ve preferred European style cabinets but didn’t think about it until after I milled and assembled the face frame. Here is the carcass from reclaimed wood. Cabinet set in place with face frame attached. Yes, I used a kre...

shop/shed? gotta make some room #3: (October 2013 tour) some rearranging and organization

10-22-2013 06:55 AM by Tugboater78 | 5 comments »

between my constant war with my phone and losing pictures and forgetting to even do much posting on this blog they are few and far between. Not to mention putting a lot of overtime at work and life in general..you all know how that goes. it’s not a big deal anyway, I am an insomniac so this gives me something to do while I am up all night.. I almost bought a new/used 14×24 shed this past weekend, but i didn’t get back with the sellers quick enough and they sold it late sat...

Building My Work Shop #12: It was a VERY Merry Christmas! (Mega Tool Gloat!)

01-16-2011 10:54 PM by Crushgroovin | 8 comments »

Wow what a great year 2010 was! Had a fantastic year getting involved in woodworking. As the year came to a close I discovered some absolutely amazing prices on some tools I really wanted for my shop. from late November to today I have added some very useful tools that should help me get quite a bit of sawdust made in 2011. For the most part the items came from CL and folks that were in need of some extra Christmas money. It ended up being a win win for me and them. First purchase wa...
