Little Bathroom Remodel - Lumberjocks style #1: Countertop

03-07-2015 05:15 PM by MarkTheFiddler | 6 comments »

Howdy, I’m redoing the tiniest of tiny bathrooms. One entire wall is occupied by the tub. The other wall is taken up by the vanity and one of those gigantic mirrors. In between those small walls is the throne. If you are seated at the throne, there is just enough room to open the door. Yep… Tiny! I started on the countertop simply because I already knew exactly how I wanted it. Here are a few work in progress shots. I have already received some outstandi...

Another pile of pine #4: Part 5: Top and a shelf

04-05-2015 03:57 PM by bandit571 | 1 comment »

First off….HAPPY EASTER! Well, added some cleats to hold a top in place, and act as “kickers” for the drawers. Cut around to get past the legs, and went to screw them in place…...something was a might off. Well, got the cleats on the ends installed , and a center cleat. Center cleat had to move a bit to line up? Ok, plopped the base onto the top. Placed a screw into each center line hole. Grabbed a LONG pipe clamp, and set it up at a diagonal. The idea...

Tool thoughts #34: Rockler answered the call & the Brown truck delivereth

09-01-2012 10:00 AM by NedB | 1 comment »

Morning folks! Been a quiet week out in the shop. There were two days when I didn’t even make it out there at all, which is Not how I want to ‘run’ things, but life got in the way. That was OK though. I spent two of the non-shop days with my youngest son, we went to the movies and saw ‘the Dark Knight Rises’. I’m much more of a Marvel fan than DC in the comics realm, but I sure do like the latest iteration of the Batman movies, not just Dark Knight, but...

Workbench Build #1: Workbench Build

02-22-2013 10:17 AM by RoadHogg | 11 comments »

I’ve worked with wood and been interested in woodworking since I was a child…some 40 years. Until now, I’ve never had the three things I needed to really explore that passion…time, space, money. To start off, I need a place to work so I built a simple workbench. I found these plans in Woodsmith magazine. The construction is simple, inexpensive and sturdy…just what I need.

Lee and Shelley's Wet Bar #4: Phase III Doors and Drawer Fronts

03-31-2014 07:16 PM by MT_Stringer | 5 comments »

With the face frames built, it was time to build the raised panel doors and the drawer fronts. I used the Freud rail and stile bit set to do the cope and stick profile cutting. Then I used a Freud raised panel bit to make the raised panels. I used a Bosch 1617 router in a router table, slowed it down to it’s slowest speed and made several passes until I got the final result I was looking for. The drawer fronts have flat panels made of maple ply. Gluing up two at a time. ...

Plywood Storage Cart #4: Squaring up time

02-04-2012 04:14 AM by chopnhack | 0 comments »

Ok, despite this morning’s drama, I manned up (just kidding, I felt better, if I still felt like that nothing would have been accomplished today) and got something done. At this point some thoughts and opinions on squaring up the A frame and how would I go about measuring the angle to make sure its true 5 degrees from centerline on either side? What I was able to do today was rather surprising. I almost finished, but didn’t know how exactly to get things lined up, so I clamp...

Fix and repaint table… Retro style

01-10-2012 01:03 PM by Nighthawk | 2 comments »

Sisters table has broken legs. It is a shame really as it is pretty old table and still pretty good nick. After looking at it best we can do is glue and the try and brace the base a bit more. Now big sis wants to sand whole table back and redo just to spruce up. Now we all love wood, but her house has heaps of natural wood showing and with the table, it actually becomes to much so she is thinking of … eeeek painting it. (shock horror I know, but I actually on this occasion agree with her, ...
