Recently I had a need to build a new table saw base for my saw. Rather than just building a simple replacement base, I opted to build one with lots of storage potential. This new base measures 6 feet long by 2 feet wide, which gave me good reason to move over to the new shop building. I haven’t yet finished the new shop set up ( haven’t even started) but this build is a great start giving me lots of options for storage potential… This build is a 2 part project. So be sure to...
We recently purchased a new washer, & dryer, & we didn’t want to spend $400 for the factory pedestals, so I’m making my own. They should cost us about $75 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This is the factory made pedestal~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The front load machines are kind of low without a pedestal. It makes it kind of tough on the back muscles.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
I ask a couple of my woodworking friends to help me talk to you about some common woodworking joinery. Woodworking joinery is the method of joining two pieces of wood together to create a more complex item. Woodworking Joinery is the one thing we as woodworkers need to know and this video talks about 4 common woodworking joints that you are most likely to use in your projects. In this video you will learn about the following joints Half Lap Joints – Presented by Jay Bates Jays...
Hey everyone, Just wanted to share a couple of shop Jigs with you. One is a quick and simple jig for quartering your sheets of sandpaper to use in your palm sanders or sanding blocks. The second jig is a multi function tapering Jig that lets you do 4 sided tapers as well as straight edging rough sawn boards and cutting angles also.. There could be many more uses, there are just the 3 I focus on in the videos. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
May 14, 2008 ~ Happy Birthday Samantha This is one of my favorite days of the year; the day my grandaughter Samantha was born. It seems like yesterday but it was really 10 years ago. Of course the other favorite day is Emily’s B-day and she is 3. So I digress but thought today would be a good time to finally put together this sequence on these Cherry End Tables. Our Daughter wanted me to make her two end tables out of Cherry and liked the design of two that I made from oak...
Just a quick peak at what I got up to today when I was not checking the hundreds of emails from all the LJs who commented on my last few posts.. Thank you very much.. I did not realize how much of my daily routine now revolves around this site.. Addictive…I also had time to drive the twenty odd miles into the big smoke..Brisbane and go shopping at Carba-tec..I know I have all the fun..A coupla new router bits..some very expensive toggle clamps [for a new jig to make the sunburst design...
This is a new journey for me to record video while building a project. I hope everyone will enjoy and learn from my experience.Any suggestions or comments are always appreciated.
Several years ago, I built a simple work table as a table saw outfeed table. It quickly became my do it all table. It is made out of 2×4’s and two pieces of 1/2 inch cd plywood which I had stored out in my shed. Fast forward to the present time. Lately I have gotten a renewed interest in woodworking. I have been doing some type of carpentry since the 70’s when I was helping my dad build pole barns. After my dad passed away, I was given his Craftsman table saw (circa 197...
I spent a very happy day in my workshop today….mostly I jointed, thicknessed and ripped lots of timber… Purple Heart, Silver Ash, Silky Oak…[aka Lacewood] and Tasmanian Blackwood… I used an Incra TSLS 32 to rip fine strips for accents.. More woven pattern projects in the wind. It is such a pleasure to work in the new clean workshop… I moved the 3 metre machine around to make more room to play on the 2 metre machine… and moved the mitre saw… now I hav...
